"Living the Revolution offers a pioneering insight into the world of the early Soviet activists, the fiery-eyed, bed-headed youths determined to be the change they wanted to see in the world. Banding together in the wake of the October Revolution and seizing urban apartments, they tried to offer practical examples of socialist living. Calling themselves urban communes, they embraced total equality and shared everything from money to underwear. They sought to overturn the traditional family unit, reinvent domesticity, and promote a new collective vision of human interaction. A trend was set: a revolutionary meme that would, in the coming years, allow thousands of would-be revolutionaries and aspiring party members to experiment with the possibilities of socialism. The first definitive account of the urban communes and the activists that formed them, this book utilizes newly uncovered archival materials to chart the rise and fall of this revolutionary impulse. It illuminates the thoughts and aspirations of individual activists as the idea of the urban commune grew from an experimental form of living, limited to a handful of participants in Petrograd and Moscow, into a phenomenon that saw tens of thousands of youths form domestic units of socialist living by the end of the 1920s. Living the Revolution is a tale of revolutionary aspiration, appropriation, and participation at the ground level. Never officially sanctioned by the party, the urban communes challenge our traditional understanding of the early Soviet state, presenting Soviet ideology as something that could both frame and fire the imagination.

"This cross sectional study in the Philippines, is a part of CRONOS study. Data on dietary intake, anthropometry, biochemical assessment and socio - economic and self perceived health status were collected from 300 elderly Filipino men and women between 60-75 years old in middle income and low income areas in Metro Manila and rural areas in Rizal province during the period of October to November 1996.
Results of dietary intake showed both sexes had very low intakes of energy nutrients. Rural elderly for both sexes had low intakes of energy and nutrients compared with urban middle income and urban low income.
Anthropometric finding showed that rural elderly had lower nutritional status as compared to urban elderly. Chronic energy deficiency was higher in male than female elderly. A high prevalence of anemia (38%) among male elderly was also found to exist. A high prevalence of hypertension was also observed in the urban low income elderly (33%).
Majority of the elderly rated their self rated health as good and fair. The reported self perceived diseases common among the elderly were arthritis, cough, and hypertension.
Previous jobs engaged by the elderly were mostly blue collar jobs and owing to loss of income, most elderly are dependent on their families for support."

Competition on land for settlements and offices or business areas in big cities in Indonesia, especially metropolitan city such as Jakarta, had resulting in high land prices, this is something common to the public. This competition had also resulting shifting of settlements away from the city center and people having to commute to the city center every day to go to their workplaces. This problem also occurs not only in developing countries but especially in many developed countries. The term Tiny House Movement later emerged and considered to be a choice of solution to deal with this problem. Living in Tiny House does not only mean living in a small-sized house, but also adapting to a simpler life, less consumptive, more connected to nature and caring for the environment. Living in tiny house is not something new to Indonesian society. For people who live in urban villages, their homes can be said to be tiny houses, only their appearance is different. This is what distinguishes between the understanding of tiny house between developed countries and Indonesia. This paper will discuss whether tiny house in urban kampung reflects a sustainable way of life and whether tiny house can be one of the solution for lack of housing supply in densly populated cities. This research will use both qualitative methods (through interviews with urban kampung communities) and quantitative methods (measurements of tiny houses in urban villages) in information retrieval. Through this research it was found that urban kampung residents have applied tiny living in their lives."
