"Thermal spray is a coating process that provides functional surface to protect or improve the performance of a substrate or component. Almost any kind and form of material can be thermally sprayed which is why thermal spray is used worldwide to provide protection from corrosion, wear, and heat, to restore and repair components, and for a variety of other applications. This reference handbook is the complete guide to thermal spray technology. It covers principles, processes, types of coatings, applications, performance, and testing/analysis. Developed under the guidance of the Thermal Spray Society Training Committee, the handbook provides an excellent introduction and guidebook for those who are new to thermal spray. It also provides enough in-depth coverage and data that it should be of great value to specifiers and users of thermal spray coatings and to thermal spray experts who need additional background in certain areas."

Metal powders are produced commercially by one of four processes, namely: chemical, electrolytic, mechanical, and atomization. Among these processes, atomization has
become the dominant mode of powder making. In this study, powder metallurgy (Powder Metallurgy) of alloy Ti-6AL-4V grade 5 was produced by the atomization plasma method
using dc thermal plasma torch from filler and argon as plasma gas. This study aims to produce and obtain optimum process parameters for the final results of Ti-6Al-4V metal powders. Where the inverter used as a power supply is a DC Plasma Cutting Machine CUT-60, the melting polarity used is Direct Current (DC) non-transferred, the pressurized gas used (inert gas) is 99.95 Argon, the dimensions of the raw material used 1.6 mm in diameter and 1000 mm long. Grain separation using 100, 120, 200, and 325 mesh sieves. Electron microscopy, optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction and particle size distribution were carried out extensively to investigate the properties of Ti-6Al-4V metal powder particles. The heated plasma torch and accelerated gas pressure make melting through the nozzle passage and the formation of granular particles, where smaller particles get higher
velocity than coarser particles in the plasma arc of granular particles are expected to obtain optimal microstructure. Variations in electric current 35A, 40A, 45A, plasma gas pressures of 1.5bar, 2bar and 2.5bar, using a constant feed speed of 2 mm3 second play an important role in the shape and size of powder particles with a roundness level of 45 μm to 150 μm. From the results of the scan showed that the results of globular spherical powder without satellite 70 and porosity population in powder particles gradually decreased with increasing electric current and applied pressure by 60."
