"This study is aimed to investigate the prevalence and pattern ofdomestic violence against women and to identify the factors influencing thedomestic violence. Cross sectional data from married women aged I5 yearsand above from rural and urban slum areas were collected for thequantitative analysis. 'I`he study also conducted qualitative analysis withfinding obtained from selective focus group discussions. Findings from thestudy indicated that more than half of the women studied experienceddomestic violence The highest type of violence experienced by thesewomen was psychological violence and the highest percentage in form ofabuse was verbal abuse such as name calling, classified as bad girl/women,criticized, false allegation, trying to be murdered, undermining, andthreaten to be divorced. Husbands were the highest percentage as abusers,and the highest reason to abuse was due to household matters i.e. did notwork as instructed. The quantitative analysis revealed that age,socioeconomic condition, type of family, and marital satisfaction wassignificantly associated with domestic violence. This study suggested thatmedia campaign is one way to educate the community about health andsocial consequences of domestic violence, and create awareness andprevent domestic violence on women."

" The study attempted to identify important ejects ofdemographic characteristics on infant and child mortality. The datafor the study was collected in 2004 under the project of the UNFPAentitled "Strengthening the Department of Population Science andHuman Resource Development" of Rajshahi University,Bangladesh. Application of logistic regression model suggests thatdemographic factors are associated with the chance of cliildsurvival. Breastfeeding and immunization practice of children hashighly significant effects on infant and child mortality among all theincluded demographic variables. The results show that the risk ofinfant and child mortality was higher for children whose mothernever breastfed than for children who were breastfed. The analysisresults also show that the children who got full immunizations hadlower risks of infant and child mortality than those who were notimmunized at all. Similarly, risk of infant and child mortalitygradually declined as both mother ?s age at marriage and mother 'sage at birth increased"

"Penelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari pengaruh karakteristik individu dan rumah tangga terhadap pilihan bekerja di sektor informal bagi perempuan menikah yang berstatus sebagai kepala rumah tangga atau pasangan kepala rumah tangga dari data Susenas tahun 2013. Ditemukan bahwa keberadaan balita cenderung menurunkan partisipasi kerja perempuan menikah namun keberadaan anggota rumah tangga lain/asisten rumah tangga dapat memberikan pengaruh positif bagi partisipasi kerja perempuan karena dapat membantu merawat anak dan melakukan tugas rumah tangga. Selain itu umur, status kerja suami dan pendidikan suami juga memengaruhi istri dalam memilih sektor pekerjaan.

This study aims to study the influence of individual characteristics and household characteristics of the choice to work in the informal sector for married women whose status as head of household or spouse of household head of Susenas 2013. It was found that the presence of toddlers tend to lower labor force participation of married women but the presence of other household members/domestic workers can provide a positive influence for labor force participation of women because it can help take care of children and doing household chores. Besides age, husband?s employment status and husband?s education also affects in choosing the employment sector."

"Tesis ini membahas kontrol sosial informal sebagai upaya pencegahan kekerasan siswa terhadap guru di sekolah menengah atas. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode wawancara tidak berstruktur, yang dilakukan pada guru dan pihak manajemen sekolah yang pernah mengalami atau menjadi saksi tindak kekerasan siswa terhadap guru baik secara verbal mau pun non-verbal. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga mendalami kekuatan kontrol sosial informal yang ada di masing-masing sekolah melalui hubungan guru dengan siswa, hubungan guru dengan orang tua, serta konsistensi dan komitmen dalam menjalankan keadilan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hubungan guru dengan siswa dan hubungan guru dengan orang tua lebih dibutuhkan di sekolah swasta daripada sekolah negeri. Hal ini berkaitan dengan adanya kesenjangan kelas sosial antara guru dan siswa yang menuntut guru untuk lebih intens dalam memenuhi kebutuhan siswa dan harapan orang tua. Banyaknya jumlah siswa dan adanya kelas sosial yang beragam di sekolah negeri menjadikan hubungan-hubungan di atas dicukupkan pada batasan-batasan tertentu. Sedangkan konsistensi dan komitmen dalam menjalankan keadilan merupakan faktor yang signifikan di masing-masing sekolah dalam rangka mencegah kekerasan itu sendiri. Dalam penelitian ini juga terdapat rekomendasi dari berbagai level demi meningkatkan kesadaran pentingnya pencegahan kekerasan itu sendiri.

This thesis discusses informal social control as an effort to prevent student violence against teachers in high school. This research is a qualitative research using an unstructured interview method, which was conducted on teachers and school management who have experienced or witnessed acts of violence by students against teachers both verbally and non-verbally. In addition, this study also explores the strength of informal social control in each school through teacher-student relationships, teacher-parent relationships, and consistency and commitment to justice. The results showed that teacher-student relationships and teacher-parent relationships were more needed in private schools than in public schools. This is related to the existence of a social class gap between teachers and students which requires teachers to be more intense in meeting students' needs and parents' expectations. The large number of students and the existence of various social classes in public schools make the above relations suffice within certain limits. Meanwhile, consistency and commitment in implementing justice are significant factors in each school in order to prevent violence itself. In this study there are also recommendations from various levels in order to increase awareness of the importance of preventing violence itself."
