Tujuan utama dari penaklukkan ini adalah ingin membuat kota Konstantinopel jatuh ke tangan Islam. Sepanjang sejarahnya, umat Islam telah melakukan beberapa upaya untuk menaklukkan Konstantinopel. Upaya tersebut sudah dilakukan dari masa Dinasti Umayyah, Dinasti Abbasiyah hingga Dinasti Turki Ustmani. Namun, penaklukkan Konstantinopel baru berhasil dilakukan pada masa Dinasti Turki Ustmani di bawah kepemimpinan Muhammad al-Fatih.

This thesis discusses the conquest of Constantinople in 1453, especially on the strategy of Muhammad al-Fatih in facing the Byzantine army. This paper uses the theoretical framework of war in its approach to the theory of Clausewitz and Sun Tzu. The research objective is qualitative research based on the evidence discussed above and analysis of an event. Conquest of Constantinople by Muhammad al-Fatih in 1453 had successfully surprised the Byzantine army at the attack and had launched a sucessful war strategy.

The main purpose of this conquest is to make the city of Constantinople fell to the Muslims. Throughout history, Muslims have made several attempts to conquer Constantinople. The effort has been made from the time of the Prophet, Umayyads, Abbasids until the Ottoman Turks. However, the conquest of Constantinople, finally accomplished during the Turkish Ottoman dynasty under the leadership of Muhammad al-Fatih."
