"Mathematics educators agree that problem solving is one of the essential skills their students should possess, yet few mathematics courses or textbooks are devoted entirely to developing this skill. Supported by narrative, examples, and exercises, Ants, Bikes, and Clocks: Problem Solving for Undergraduates is a readable and enjoyable text designed to strengthen the problem-solving skills of undergraduate students. The book, which provides hundreds of mathematical problems, gives special emphasis to problems in context, often called story problems or modeling problems, that require mathematical formulation as a preliminary step. Both analytical and computational approaches, as well as the interplay between them, are included.
With its lively and engaging writing style and interesting and entertaining problems, Ants, Bikes, and Clocks will strengthen students mathematical skills, introduce them to new mathematical ideas, demonstrate for them the connectedness of mathematics, and improve both their analytical and computational problem solving. One of the remarkable and unusual features of this text is that it encourages students to use the computer for experimentation. In fact, Briggs uses a variety of tricks that encourage students to use any tool at hand to test their ideas."

ABSTRACT
Breakup can cause grief, distress, lowered self esteem, maladaptive behavior, physical disturbance and depression such self-destructive behavior. When there is no adaptive capability to solve breakups, it can worst its effect. Therefore, it will need to be solved immediately. Problem Solving Therapy (PST) is one of Cogntive Behavior Therapy that focused on training the individual to have adaptive problem solving skill. PST can train the coping skill and minimize the level of stress. This research uses one group pre-and-post test design non-experimental. This research also use Beck Depression Inventory and Problem Solving Test as an instrument to measure the therapeutic effect before and after the intervention. There are two female participants had joined this research. They are 23 and 27 years old. The intervention held in 4 sessions. In conclusion, PST is effective to improve adaptive coping style and reduce stress for female young adulthood on breakup."

This study is aimed to investigate the effectiveness of problem solving therapy (PST) to improve problem solving skill in a male adolescent status offender. Previous study showed that juvenile delinquency and health-risk behaviour are related to lack of problem solving skill which then affect academic performance. Intervention for adolescent status offender were conducted frequently to improve social problem solving skill, one of them is PST which based on cognitive behavioral therapy principles. (D'Zurilla & Nezu, 2007).
Subject in this study is a male adolescent status offender aged 14 year. Intervention was performed in 7 session which designed based on general guidelines of PST. To determine the effectiveness of the intervention, measurement were performed before and after program using interview guideline and problem solving test questionnaire designed by Nezu, Nezu, & D'Zurilla (2013).
Result showed the intervention was not yet effective to improve problem solving skill. This progam is effective to deliver knowledge about steps of effective problem solving and enhance subject's willingness to change, but failed to change subject's problem orientation to be more positive.
Some suggestions for future study are to evaluate psychometric properties of the measure, to maintain good rapport with the subject during intervention,to provide follow-up session purposed to observe generalization of problem solving skill in natural setting, and to provide social skill training before problem solving skill training.
