WAIC is wireless communication system connecting avionics at the airplane. This system is currently assessed by AVSI (Aerospace Vehicle Systems Institute), ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization), and ITU (International Telecommunication Union) to subsitute cable redundancy in the avionics system. Current stage of the technological development is to determine the bandwidth for WAIC. Frequency 4200- 4400 MHz is mostly recommended for the system. This thesis analyzes the compatiblity of WAIC system to radio altimeter at 4200- 4400 MHz. The compatibility is modelled by the interference of WAIC to radio altimeter receiver. The four parameters of radio receiver are used in the simulation i.e. frontend overload, receiver desensitization, false altitude report, and power spectral density. The four parameters are modelled into four modulations which are QPSK, 16- PSK, GMSK, and 8- FSK. The simulation consists of two conditions which are LI (Low Inside) and HI (High Inside) while each of these condition is also divided into two conditions which are going into landing and after landing. It is found that QPSK is the most optimum modulation system. The results of this simulation show that the interference of WAIC system is not harmful to the radio altimeter. Hence, the frequency 4200- 4400 MHz is suitable for WAIC."

"Cognitive radio networks (CRN) will be widely deployed in the near future, and this SpringerBrief covers some important aspects of it, as well as highlighting optimization strategies in Resource Allocation and Spectrum Sensing in CRNs. The cognitive approach in radio access is introduced in the first part of this SpringerBrief, and then next the benefits of cooperative spectrum sensing are highlighted and a framework for studying it under realistic channel conditions is described. New exact closed-form expressions for average false alarm probability and average detection probability are derived in this scenario. A novel approximation to alleviate the computational complexity of the proposed models are also discussed.
Once the spectrum opportunities are identified, efficient and systematic resource allocation (RA) shall be performed. The second part of this SpringerBrief describes the taxonomy for the RA process in CRN. A comprehensive overview of the optimization strategies of the CRN RA is also provided. The device-to-device (D2D) communication scenario is discussed, then as a case study and various optimization strategies for the application of the CR technology in the D2D realm is studied. The application of advanced geometric water-filling (GWF) approach in CRN D2D environment for optimum resource allocation is presented in detail. Numerical results provide more insight quantitatively. Overall, this book is suitable for a wide audience that include students, faculty and researchers in wireless communication area and professionals in the wireless service industry."

Nowdays, broadcasting radio is still society?s choice as a medium for information and entertainment. Radio is also a better broadcacting medium compared to television because it is only transferred audio data. This would mean that the updated information can be received faster to society. Analog broadcasting radio divided into AM (Amplitude Modulation) and FM (Frequency Modulation). It turned out FM broadcasting radio has more listeners than AM for having better sound quality and resistant to noise.
There are currently 35 FM radio stations in Medan. However, the channel amounts and numbering was changed due the Indonesia Ministerial Regulation number 13 that was published in 2010. As a result, there are two radio stations in Medan that have to compete each other for one channel. The situation would require a new planning for new channel in Medan to fulfill the demands. It means, when a new radio station broadcasts, it doesn?t interfere with itself and any other existing radio. Moreover, it has to consider also the transmitter technique limitations for the planning such as field strength, power, antenna pattern, and adjacent channel.
In this Final Project, there will be a design for a channel addition in the city of Medan with the minimum capacity of serving more than 50 percent of the population on the region and able to meet the requirement of minimum field strength. The result of the simulation is acquired through a FM transmitter on 106,1 MHz or on channel 186 with power of 3 kilowatts which able to serve up to 72,7 percent of population and 52,58 percent coverage area of Medan. Though the channel's number that is used is on the second adjacent channel of the existing channels in Medan, the condition is still be able to considered given while the radio broadcasts that there are no interference."
