"A physicist and an inventor, Jules Janssen (1824-1907) devoted his life to astronomical research. He spent many years traveling around the world to observe total Solar eclipses, demonstrating that a new era of science had just come thanks to the use of both spectroscopy and photography, and persuading the French Government of the necessity of founding a new observatory near Paris. He became its director in 1875. There, at Meudon, he began routine photographic recordings of the Sun surface and had a big refractor and a big reflector built. Meanwhile, he also succeeded in building an Observatory at the summit of Mont-Blanc."

"Skripsi ini membahas dominasi perempuan yang terdapat dalam film Jules et Jim. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini dikelompokkan ke dalam dua kategori, yaitu aspek naratif dan sinematografis, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teori kajian sinema. Data-data itu juga dikaitkan dengan gambaran perempuan dalam hubungan poliamori serta dalam konteks masyarakat Prancis tahun 1920-an. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa melalui analisis aspek naratif dan sinematografis ditemukan adanya dominasi tokoh-tokoh perempuan atas tokoh-tokoh laki-laki. Meskipun sama-sama dominan, tokoh-tokoh perempuan itu memiliki cara yang berbeda dalam menjalankan dominasinya. Adanya dominasi tokoh-tokoh perempuan mendukung kekhasan film Jules et Jim sebagai film Nouvelle Vague.

The focus of this study is to find the domination of women in the film Jules et Jim. This study uses qualitative method. The data in this study are divided into two categories: narrative aspect and cinematographic aspects before being analyzed using the theory of cinema studies. The data are also being associated with the image of women in polyamory relationship and in the context of French society in the 1920s. Through the analysis of both narrative and cinematographic aspect, the final results of this study show that the female characters in the film dominate the male characters, but each character has different way in dominating. The presence of women’s domination asserts the character Nouvelle Vague in Jules et Jim."
