"Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui apakah identity fusion memiliki hubungan dengan kesediaan berkorban dalam perilaku ekstrim (berkelahi atau mengorbankan nyawa) pada konteks agama dan apakah motivasi dapat berfungsi sebagai moderator dalam hubungan tersebut. Pengukuran identity fusion dan kesediaan berkorban memakai alat ukur yang digunakan oleh Swann et al. (2009). Sedangkan motivasi diukur melalui skala Behavioral Inhibition and Approach System (BIS/BAS) yang dikembangkan oleh Carver & White (1994). Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 120 responden dengan kriteria beragama Islam dan berusia minimal 21 tahun. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara identity fusion dan kesediaan berkorban dalam bentuk perilaku ekstrim pada konteks agama. Selain itu, diperoleh hasil bahwa motivasi tidak memiliki fungsi sebagai moderator dari hubungan identity fusion dengan kesediaan berkorban.

This study is conducted to find the correlation between identity fusion and willingness to sacrifice. Furthermore, motivation will be tested as a moderator in the relationship between those variables. Identity fusion and willingness to sacrifice is measured using the instrument constructed by Swann et al. (2009) and motivation is measured using BIS/BAS scale which constructed by Carver and White (1994). The criteria of participants in this study are Muslims and aged a minimum of 21 years old. The results show that in general, there is significant correlation between identity fusion and willingness to sacrifice. Moreover, motivation cannot serve as a moderator in relationship between identity fusion and willingness to sacrifice."
