"Suatu percakapan diasumsikan mengikuti prinsip-prinsip umum komunikasi dan kerja sama sebagai suatu aturan. Grice (1975) mengembangkan studi tentang prinsip kooperatif, dan merupakan kunci percakapan yang efektif. Namun, apa yang orang katakan tidak selalu apa yang sebenarnya mereka maksud, dan alasan mereka di balik itu melebihi pentingnya untuk mematuhi prinsip kerja sama Grice. Artikel penelitian ini berfokus pada tindak tutur Donald Trump karena penting untuk memahami implikatur percakapannya. Metode campuran (kualitatif & kuantitatif) dengan studi pustaka digunakan dalam penelitian ini, dan transkrip yang sesuai dengan cuplikan konferensi pers digunakan sebagai data primer. Artikel penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis ketidaktaatan pada maksim prinsip kerja sama Grice dalam dialog Trump dengan publik dengan frekuensinya masing-masing, dan (2) menjelaskan mengapa jenis tertentu lebih menonjol dari yang lain. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa ada limabelas ketidaktaatan terhadap maksim dengan pelanggaran maksim kuantitas (maxim of quantity) memegang frekuensi tertinggi, dan itu adalah tindakan Trump yang paling serbaguna untuk dieksploitasi. Hal ini menyimpulkan bahwa beliau mengeksploitasi prinsip kerja sama percakapan dengan tidak mengamatinya untuk keuntungan pribadinya.

A conversation is assumed to be following the general principles of communication and cooperation as such kind of a rule. Grice (1975) developed a study on the cooperative principle, and it is the key of an effective conversation. However, what people say is not always what they actually mean and their reasons for that outweighs the importance of observing the Gricean Cooperative Principle. This research article focuses on the speech acts of Donald Trump, and it is imperative to understand his conversational implicature. A mixed method (qualitative & quantitative) with additional library research is used, and the transcript corresponding to the footage of the press conference is used as the primary data. The article aims to (1) identify the types of non-observance of Gricean cooperative principle maxims in Trump`s dialogue with the public with each types` frequency, and (2) explain why a certain type is more prominent than the others. The findings show that there are fifteen non-observance of the maxims with flouting of the maxim of quantity holds the highest frequency, and it is Trump`s most versatile act for exploiting. It concludes that he exploits the maxims by not observing them for his personal benefit."
