Zanten, Wim van
"Collective representations of ?time? do not passively reflect time, but time and space are mediated by society. By our social practices, such as making music and dancing, we create time. Different cultural groups may experience and perceive time in different ways, and also within one cultural group the quality of time is not always experienced in the same way. Anthropological studies have shown that in each cultural group different perceptions of time co-exist. For instance, time generally tends to be perceived as both a linear flow and as repetitive. We should not confuse metaphysical and sociological arguments about time: time in music and other performing arts operates at the social and not at the metaphysical level. The essay discusses a variety of social qualities of time and space as it becomes manifest in some performing arts of West Java and the implications for their safeguarding."

M. Anni Sopanata

This research is conducted to determine whether the coals from Talang Akar formation mostly found at the Arjuna sub-basin, Java Sea can act as source rock of the oils from the wells at that area. To enable this, correlation is done to four coal samples from different locations, i.e. from UA-l well, two samples from different depths, and one each from BZZA-7 and SF-1 wells, with eight oil samples from KL-7 well, and one sample from BZZA well. These coal samples are chosen for this research, as there is a relatively thick layer at that location and depth, hence it is predicted to be the oil source rock.
Correlation is done with m/z 191 and m/z 217 cyclic biomarkers, also m/z 231 and m/z 253 aromatic biomarker with GC-MS technique. To provide more confident result, other analysis as supporting parameters, i.e. Rock-Evil, latroscan TLCIFID, vitrinite reflectance, kerogen typing and carbon isotope ("C) were done. Hydrous pyrolysis was also done to detect any possibilities of oil migration contamination from other source rock.
The result shows that the four coal samples content dominate terrestrial organic materials and can act as the source rock. The coal from BZZA-7, 7896? well is the main source rock for KL-7 oil production, especially from the depths of 7764' - 7786'. Coals from UA-1, 7337? and UA-1, 7454? are the secondary source rock for this oil.

Kipnis, Jeffrey
"Jeffrey Kipnis's writing, thinking, and teaching casts architecture as both an intellectual discourse and a lived, affective experience. His essays on contemporary architects are less about making critical judgments than about explication, exegesis, and provocation. In these eleven essays, written between 1990 and 2008, he considers projects, concepts, and buildings by some of the most recognized architects working today, with special attention to the productions of affect. He explores "intuition" in the work of Morphosis, "exhilaration" in Coop Himmelb(l)au, "freedom" in the work of Rem Koolhaas and OMA, "magic" in Steven Holl's buildings, and "anxiety" in Rafael Moneo's writing about contemporary architecture. Kipnis's deft integration of art, critical theory, philosophy, pop culture, classical music, and science -- what the volume's editor Alexander Maymind calls "ancillary material"--Into a rigorous architectural theory and criticism makes A Question of Qualities an exemplar of a new way to write about architecture. It is also a distinct pleasure to read. Kipnis transcends the fractious intellectual climate in architecture, stepping outside the boundaries mandated by the vast specialized criteria that the discipline now claims to address. The essays in this volume demonstrate a style of writing that is not so much about architecture as it is an affect of architecture itself"
