"This study offers a new approach to the history of sites, archaeology, and heritage formation in Asia, at both the local and the trans-regional levels. Starting at Hindu-Buddhist, Chinese, Islamic, colonial, and prehistoric heritage sites in Indonesia, the focus is on people's encounters and the knowledge exchange taking place across colonial and post-colonial regimes. Objects are followed as they move from their site of origin to other locations, such as the Buddhist statues from Borobudur temple, that were gifted to King Chulalongkorn of Siam. The ways in which the meaning of these objects transformed as they moved away to other sites reveal their role in parallel processes of heritage formation outside Indonesia. Calling attention to the power of the material remains of the past, Marieke Bloembergen and Martijn Eickhoff explore questions of knowledge production, the relationship between heritage and violence, and the role of sites and objects in the creation of national histories."

"Kajian Budaya Penelitian ini merupakan sebuah kajian budaya yang membahas tentang pemaknaan ldquo;Ice Bucket Challenge rdquo; pada meme dan media sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana tantangan ini dimaknai oleh pengguna internet dan bagaimana komentar mengenai tantangan ini direpresentasikan. Penelitian berjenis kualitatif ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan analisis wacana, serta pendekatan linguistik. Korpus yang dipilih adalah meme dan komentar yang ditemukan di media sosial Twitter berbahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa komentar maupun meme disampaikan dengan cara yang berbeda-beda yaitu dengan menyindir, terang - terangan, emosional atau ketika kita bisa mengetahui perasaan sebenarnya dari pengirim terhadap tantangan ini, atau bahkan hanya sebagai guyonan. Bersamaan dengan bermacam-macam cara penyampaian, dalam menanggapi tantangan ini masyarakat juga membawa isu-isu tertentu yang disampaikan baik lewat meme maupun lewat komentar seperti kelangkaan air, slacktivism, bahkan anggapan bahwa tantangan ini merupakan hal yang bodoh.

This research is a cultural studies which discuss about how people see the Ice Bucket Challenge in the internet meme and social media. It aims to see how far this challenge is understood by a netizen and how those comments regarding the Ice Bucket Challenge are being represented. This research is a quantitative research using discourse analysis and linguistic approach. The corpuses are meme and comments in English found in social media Twitter. This research find that comments or meme are delivered in different ways such as teasingly, to the point, emotionally, where we can the real feeling of these people towards the challenge, or only as a joke. Along with different ways of delivering comments, there are some issues related to this challenge that the netizens posted in their comments or meme like slacktivism."
