"The Chinese language, spoken by over one billion people, has undergone drastic changes over the past century in a way unparalleled at any time previously. This book presents a comprehensive and up-to-date account of the development of Modern Chinese from the late nineteenth century up to the 1990s, concentrating on three major aspects: Modern Spoken Chinese, Modern Written Chinese, and the Modern Chinese writing system. It describes and analyses in detail, from historical and sociolinguistic perspectives, the establishment and promotion of Modern Spoken Chinese and Modern Written Chinese and the reform of the Chinese script. Through an integrated discussion of these three areas of the language it highlights the close interrelationships between them and reveals the interaction of linguistic, historical, and social factors in the development of Modern Chinese."

"Nama adalah kata sebutan atau panggilan khusus yang mengacu kepada seseorang atau sesuatu. Sebutan atau panggilan ini dimaksudkan untuk membedakan diri sendiri dengan yang lain. Nama seseorang umumnya mengandung harapan dan doa orang tua agar sang anak memiliki masa depan ataupun berperilaku sesuai dengan makna yang dikandung pada nama tersebut. Pada masa Cina kuno, masyarakat Cina dapat memiliki tiga jenis nama, yaitu 名 míng (nama pemberian), 字 zì (nama kehormatan), dan 号 hào (nama gelar). Salah satu tokoh utama dalam drama The Untamed 陈情令 Chén Qíng Lìng (2019), yaitu Lan Wangji, memiliki tiga jenis nama, yaitu 湛 Zhàn yang bermakna ‘Sempurna’ sebagai 名 míng (nama pemberian), 忘机 Wàngjī bermakna ‘Melupakan Hal Penting’ sebagai 号 hào (nama gelar), dan 含光君 Hánguāng Jūn bermakna ‘Tuan yang Membawa Cahaya’ sebagai 字 zì (nama kehormatan). Penelitian ini menggunakan teori segitiga semantik Ogden dan Richards untuk melihat hubungan makna ketiga nama Lan Wangji dengan sepak terjangnya di dunia persilatan sebagai acuannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan dipaparkan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ketiga nama Lan Wangji memiliki makna yang sesuai dengan perilaku yang ditunjukkan oleh Lan Wangji dalam drama.

A name is a special designation or nickname that refers to someone or something. This designation or nickname is intended to distinguish oneself from others. A person's name generally contains the hopes and prayers of parents so that the child has a future or behaves according to the meaning contained in that name. In ancient China, Chinese people could have three kinds of names, namely 名 míng (given name), 字 zì (honorary name), and 号 hào (title name). One of the main characters in the drama The Untamed 陈情令 Chén Qíng Lìng (2019), namely Lan Wangji, has three kinds of names, namely 湛 Zhàn which means 'Perfect' as 名 míng (given name), 忘机 Wàngjī means 'Forgetting Important Things' as 号 hào (title), and 含光君 Hánguāng Jūn means 'the Lord Who Brings the Light' as 字 zì (honorary name). This study uses Ogden and Richards' semantic triangle theory to see the relationship between the meanings of the three names of Lan Wangji and his actions in the world of martial arts as a reference. This study uses a qualitative approach and is presented descriptively. The results of this study indicate that the three names of Lan Wangji have meanings that are in accordance with the behavior shown by Lan Wangji in the drama."

"Karya sastra bukan hanya menjadi buah imajinasi seorang penulis, melainkan juga sebagai jembatan aspirasi penggambaran fenomena sosial nyata. Cerpen Feizao ditulis pada tahun 1924, merupakan sebuah karya yang lahir dari buah pemikiran seorang intelektual revolusioner, Lu Xun, yang identik dengan karya sastra realisme kritisnya. Cerpen Feizao memiliki tiga tokoh perempuan pendamping yang membentuk sebuah representasi perempuan pada saat itu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkapkan representasi tiga tokoh perempuan yang dibangun dalam kisah ini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan penulis adalah deskriptif analisis dan metode intrinsik penokohan pada tokoh. Hasil dari penelitian ini memaparkan adanya penggambaran perempuan tradisional dan modern yang berusaha diungkapkan Lu Xun melalui tindak dan tutur tokoh-tokoh dalam cerpen.

A Literary works is not only as the result of an authors imagination, but also as an aspiration to portray real social phenomenon. Feizao is a short story that written in 1924 by a revolutionary intellectual, Lu Xun, who was identical with his critical realism works. Feizao short story has three additional women characters that configured a representation of women at that time. The purpose of this study is to reveal the representation of three women characters that created in this story. The research method used by the author is descriptive analysis and intrinsic approach. The results of this study revealed that there is a representation of traditional and modern women that Lu Xun tried to express through actions and dialogues of the characters in the story."
