"ABSTRAKPulau Samosir merupakan salah satu peninggalan situs Megalitik yang merepresentasikan budaya adat Megalitik yang dekat terikat dengan kelompok etnis batak Toba. Salah satu tinggalan Megalitik tersebut, adalah patung Megalitik berbentuk manusia, yang digambarkan dalam gaya, gestur, dan bentuk yang beragam. Penelitian sebelumnya mengenai patung Megalitik kuno di Samosir berfokus terhadap informasi deskriptif mengenai bentuk dan lokasi objek tersebut. Peneltiian ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan informasi mengenai karakteristik fisik, atribut gaya, dan asosiasinya dengan tinggalan Megalitik lainnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan model penelitian arkeologi Ashmore dan Sharer (2010) yang terdiri dari beberapa tahapan. Berdasarkan gestur, bentuk, dan variasi atribut, patung megalitik berbentuk manusia dapat diklasifikasikan menjadi 4 kelompok utama, yaitu digambarkan dengan tubuh tidak lengkap, berdiri, berlutut, dan dalam posisi duduk. Penggambaran tersebut juga bervariasi menjadi gaya sederhana dan raya. Berdasarkan kesimpulan penelitian ini dan penelitian sebelumnya mengenai Batak dan tradisi Megalitik, keberagaman patung Megalitik berbentuk manusia di Samosir terkait dengan perkembangan awal dari kebudayaan Megalitik.

ABSTRACTSamosir island is one of late megalithic sites that represent an indigenous megalithic culture that is tied to Batak Toba ethnic group. One of those megalithic remains is a human megalithic sculpture, that is portrayed in various style, gesture, and shape. Previous studies about ancient megalithic statue in Samosir focus on providing descriptive information regarding the shape and location of object. This study aims is to provide information regarding human megalithic sculpture physical characteristics, stylistic attributes, and association with other megalithic remains. This study uses Ashmore and Sharer (2010) archaeology research model that is made up by several steps. Based on gesture, shape, and attributes variation, megalithic human figure can be classified into four main class, which are partially depicted, standing, kneeling, and seated. Those depiction also varies into static and dynamic poses and style. Supported by previous research on Batak and megalithic tradition, the variety of Samosir`s human megalithic sculpture are tied to the early development of its megalithic culture."
