In the performance of its function as a channel of information, the press has a very important role to develop a society, a nation or state. Due to its immense power, the press can play two-sided ames i e, positive and negative sides. The press can advance and improve values existing in the society, on the contraary, it can also worsen and destroy the values. In fact, the press always identifies itself as a neutral institution, and gives priority to the public interest. Nevertheless, in carrying out its profession, the press is covered by miscellaneous interest. As a result in some cases it often happens different interpretation and conflicts on controversial assumption in observing the implementation of press professionalism, particularly in the dissemination of information on the development. "

"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan di desa Krenceng, Kecamatan Nglegok Kabupaten Blitar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi tentang kontribusi wanita dalam usaha gula semut. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 40 orang. Data yang dikumpulkan meliputi data primer dan sekunder. Data dianalisis menggunakan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam usaha gula semut wanita berperan memasak nira sampai menjadi gula. Curahan waktu yang dihabiskan oleh wanita untuk kegiatan ini relatif lebih sedikit daripada laki-laki yang berperan sebagai penderes, namun jika ditinjau dari pekerjaan rumah tangga secara keseluruhan maka curahan waktu yang dihabiskan oleh wanita lebih besar daripada laki-laki. Penggunaan uang hasil usaha dikelola bersama-sama untuk kepentingan rumah tangga, menyekolahkan anak, dlsb. Namun pengambilan keputusan khususnya untuk hal-hal yang menyangkut pengolahan gula seut, wanita lebih dominan daripada laki-laki."

"The research is conducted due to the reason that after the democratization in Indonesia since 1998, Indonesia still faces unclear certainly whether the demoncratization will bring a better quality of life to the population or it merely means a regular election and other aspects of procedural democracy. The paper will discus weather the procedural democracy in Indonesia has a connection to the welfare or quality of life of its people or not. There are several condition that need to be achieved to make the prosedural democracy make an effect to the sustainable development. This paper will analyze the democration in Indonesia since 1998 and the challenges in reaching the substantive democracy.."
