"Skripsi ini membahas aspek legalitas transaksi efek short-selling yang dilakukan pada masa krisis keuangan dan bentuk perlindungan otoritas bursa terhadap dampak penurunan harga yang tajam di bulan Oktober 2008. Penulisan skripsi ini adalah penelitian normatif-empiris dengan pendekatan kasus dimana pengumpulan data terutama menggunakan studi kepustakaan dan wawancara. Hasil analisa dan penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa transaksi efek short-selling dapat berubah posisi dari legal menjadi ilegal apabila dilakukan dengan cara dan pada waktu yang dilarang.

The study is focused on the legal aspect of short selling transaction during financial crisis and the authorities’ anticipation for market decline which reached its bottom on early October 2008. The market decline was indicated by impropriety short-selling transaction, therefore it need further investigation which conducted by the authorities days later. This scientific paper is an empiric-normative research using case study approach. The main conclusion of this study is that short-selling would be allegedly acclaimed illegal if exercised by using impropriet mechanism and/or within certain period which being forbid for macro economic reasons"
