No 7 Tahun 1999 dan PP No. 8 Tahun 1999.

Habitat study has been conducted at ex-situ conservation (captive breeding) of timor deer (Cervus timorensis) in Campus Universitas Indonesia (UI). The purpose of this study is to investigate whether timor deer habitat in UI based on physical and biological aspects of standardized deer habitat in captive breeding according to government rules PP. No 7 /1999 and PP No. 8 /1999. The methods used are habitat observation, and questionnaire, then the result is compared to the other timor deer captive breeding area, Ranca Upas, Ciwidey. Based on observations of deer habitat in UI, the physical conditions and maintenance are not qualified as a captive breeding area. The home range area for 1 ha is only for 10 heads, but at UI there are 36 heads; the sex ratio male:female 1:4 but in the UI field 11:16. The UI field is unsafe and uncomfortable, and the animal health standard is low and it has no expert hired for administrative and medical care. Universitas Indonesia should improve the habitat, need experts for administrative work such as labeling, certification, and listing on the book of pedigree (studbook) and tagging, and for genetic diversity preservation. The implementation of the ex-situ conservation must consider the ecosystem, carrying capacity, population control, food supply, shelter, and breeding."

Green and open space are difficult to find nowadays due to the lack of unused open areas. The existing green open spaces should therefore be maintained and improved. Green open space has become a habitat for birds and has an esthetically value. As a habitat for birds, green open space face problems : the location of city parks and forests is not adjacent while there is not enough green belts connecting the parks. This makes green open spaces become isolated. Although several connecting green belts do exist, the vegetations area quite homogeneous and only consist of rapid growing plants which have esthetically value. This research is conducted in order to make a green open space attractive to birds and esthetically valuable. The plants and birds are assessed based on the plant structure which is attractive to birds, composition, as well as plant and bird diversity. The esthetically value of plant is measured using the crown density, color and texture, shape of flower and fruit, the sky line, type, composition and quantity of plant, as well as the color of leaf, crown, bark, flower, fruit and root.
The tree height and diameter are measured by the crown width, the type of tree architectural and the canopy. The composition of plant is measured by the tree density, the domination and the presence frequency in the observation location. Census method is used to measure plant diversity in Taman Suropati and Situ Lembang while transect method is conducted in Gondangdia - US Embassy Corridor and Taman Medan Merdeka. Bird diversity is measured by employing cruising method. Community similarity in some observation locations is determined by applying Sorensen coefficient formula. The observation result is then analyzed to find out the relationship between plant and bird diversity. The relationship between bird diversity and esthetically is then plotted on a cortensian graph. What can be concluded from this research is that the plant structure and composition as well as plant and bird diversity should be taken into account when planning and designing green open space in the city. It is also important to developed and maintain them to improve urban environment quality.

"Population of Flindersia pimenteliana (Maple Silkwood) in Indonesian Papua and Papua New Guinea is severely fragmented and experiencing a continuing decline due to habitat destruction and illegal logging. This species is very susceptible to environmental changes and at greater risk of extinction due to its small and fragmented geographic ranges and low abundance. Using maximum entropy (MaxEnt) method, the present study predicted the impact of climate change on the distribution of the species across its native distribution area. Elevation and 19 bioclimatic variables commonly used in species distribution modeling were used as predictors. Â The prediction model of the current potential distribution identified a total area of 156,214 km2 in Indonesian Papua and Papua New Guinea (18% of total land area) as suitable habitat for F. pimenteliana. Elevation and precipitation of the wettest, coldest and warmest quarters contributed most to the model. Based on the average of HadGEM2-ES and MIROC-ESM models, potential distribution projections under RCP8.5 scenario suggested a habitat gain of 16% for 2050 and 8% for 2070 in the species distribution. Whereas under RCP4.5, an average habitat gain of 7% was predicted for both 2050 and 2070. The newly suitable habitats were predicted to be found mainly in Southern and Western Highland of Papua New Guinea. Protection of these areas from habitat destruction and land use change is needed to assist F. pimenteliana find the most suitable climate for its survival."
