"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini membahas teks Wawacan Samun (WS) yang terkandung dalamnaskah berbahasa Sunda dan ber-genre wawacan. Tujuan penelitian adalahmenyajikan suntingan teks dan terjemahan teks WS dalam bahasa Indonesia,mengetahui perbedaan teks yang diproduksi di skriptorium pesantren dankabupaten, serta menunjukkan tegangan antara konvensi dan kreasi dalam teks.Untuk mencapai tujuan itu digunakan teori filologi dan sastra. Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan bahwa dari lima naskah yang mengandung teks WS terdapat duaversi cerita, yaitu versi skriptorium pesantren dan versi skriptorium kabupaten.Naskah yang diproduksi di skriptorium pesantren dan kabupaten memperlihatkanpenggunaan bahasa dan tema cerita yang berbeda. Naskah pesantren banyakmenggunakan ungkapan dan peribahasa serta interferensi kata-kata yang berasaldari bahasa Arab, sedangkan naskah dari kabupaten menggunakan gaya bahasalangsung tanpa menggunakan ungkapan dan peribahasa serta dominan denganinterferensi kata-kata yang berasal dari bahasa Melayu. Dalam hal tema, naskahpesantren mengandung tema cerita: ?upaya menyebarkan agama Islam? atau?proses Islamisasi?, sedangkan naskah kabupaten bertema ?kebaikan, kesabaran,dan kerja keras merupakan sifat dan sikap yang harus dimiliki oleh seorang calonpemimpin?. Dalam hal tegangan antara konvensi dan kreasi tampak bahwa parapenyalin teks WS masih mengikuti konvensi penulisan metrum pupuh yangkonvensional walaupun banyak ditemukan kekeliruan. Kreasi yang dilakukan parapenyalin teks WS difokuskan dalam penggarapan aspek naratif. Suntingan teksdan terjemahan menggunakan versi pesantren yang diwakili naskah SD 26.

ABSTRACTThis research analyses Wawacan Samun (WS) texts in Sundanese manuscriptswith wawacan genre. This research aims at presenting WS text editions and theirtranslations in Indonesian Language, acknowledges the text differences producedin pesantren (an Islamic institution whose students live in the boarding schoolsystem) scriptorium and kabupaten (district) scriptorium, and shows the tensebetween convention and creation in the texts. To achieve this objective, philologyand literary theories were used. The research found out that out of five WSmanuscripts there are two story versions, i.e. pesantren scriptorium and kabupatenscriptorium. The texts produced in pesantren scriptorium and kabupatenscriptorium show the different languages and story themes. The pesantrenmanuscript mostly uses expressions, proverbs, and the interference of wordsderived from Arabic Language, while the kabupaten manuscript uses a directlanguage style without using expressions and proverbs as well as being dominatedwith interference words derived from Malay Language. In term of the theme, thepesantren manuscript illustrates: ?the efforts to propagate Islam? or ?anIslamization process?; meanwhile, the kabupaten manuscript has the themes of?good deeds, patience, hard working as the attribute to be possessed by a to-beleader?. In term of the tense between convention and creation, it is clearly seenthat the editors of WS texts still follow the conventional pupuh metrum writingwith many errors found. The creation done by WS text editors is focused onnarrative aspects. The editions and translations use the pesantren versionrepresented by SD 26"
