"Hubungan antara perempuan dan konstruksi gender telah banyak diteliti sampai saat ini. Beberapa penelitian mengenai kasus ini banyak berfokus pada dampak negatif dari konstruksi gender yang dialami perempuan. Seringkali perempuan menjadi korban dari fenomena konstruksi gender dalam masyarakat sebagaimana perempuan dituntut sesuai dengan harapan masyarakat pada umumnya. Adanya persepsi ini, memunculkan pertanyaan, seperti: apakah perempuan selalu seperti itu? Apakah perempuan harus selalu mengikuti konstruksi gender dalam masyarakat? Konstruksi gender juga berdampak pada peranan manusia dalam masyarakat, dan kemudian menciptakan suatu identitas. Tulisan ini membahas tentang gambaran seorang perempuan (khususnya perempuan yang belum menikah) melalui sebuah film berjudul Confession of a Shopaholic, yang dipengaruhi oleh konstruksi gender dalam masyarakat. Hal ini juga membahas bagaimana respon tokoh perempuan terhadap konstruksi gender yang pada akhirnya berpengaruh dalam pembentukan identitas tokoh perempuan tersebut.

The relation between women and gender construction has been discussed many times. Most discussions of the issue focus on the negative impacts of gender construction for women. Women become the victim of the phenomenon of gender construction in society that they have to be what the society expects them to be. This perception then leads to questions: are women always like that? Do women always have to follow gender construction in society? Gender also constructs human's roles in a society, and those roles then create an identity. This paper talks about a woman?s image (especially a single woman) through a movie Confession of a Shopaholic, which is influenced by gender construction in society. It also extends the woman?s response towards gender construction of the society around her as it later creates her identity."

"One of many activities that human do within a space is consumption. Presently, the life style trend of the community has become more hedonistic as well as consumptive. This, in turn, has created the shopaholic phenomenon. The purpose of this research is to know where are the shopping regions of the shopaholics among University of Indonesia’s female student based on hedonic shopping motivations which includes adventure shopping, gratification shopping, value shopping, social shopping, idea shopping and role shopping. The analysis used in this research is spatial and descriptive analysis.
The result showed that shopping region of the adventure shopping shopaholics tended to be clumped on the heart of Jakarta with the type of shopaholics who preferred shopping location closer to their living area. Meanwhile, shopping regions of other shopaholic types are more scattered. The gratification shopping, social shopping and value shopping shopaholics preferred shopping locations that are far from their living area. The role shopping shopaholics chose shopping locations with moderate distance from their living area. Meanwhile some of the idea shopping shopaholics chose shopping locations close to their living area and some preferred shopping locations far from their living area."

"ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah perbedaan preferensi gender dalam kegiatan berbelanja online masih terjadi hingga saat ini dimana pengguna internet antara laki-laki dan perempuan semakin menuju kata seimbang. Fokus yang ingin dilihat adalah dari segi tingkat emosional, tingkat kepraktisan, dan juga tingkat kepercayaan yang dirasakan oleh setiap individu dalam berbelanja online, yang dilihat hubungannya terhadap frekuensi belanja online dan pengeluaran belanja online. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah dengan cara menyebarkan kuisioner yang dapat diisi secara online. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa perempuan lebih sering melakukan belanja online dibandingkan laki-laki, namun dalam hal total pengeluaran justru nilai yang dihasilkan oleh laki-laki lebih besar. Tingkat kepercayaan menjadi faktor terbesar bagi laki-laki dalam menentukan seberapa sering dan seberapa besar mereka melakukan kegiatan berbelanja online. Sifat risk aversion secara umum yang dimiliki oleh laki-laki memiliki pengaruh terhadap kegiatan mereka dalam belanja online, sedangkan perempuan tidak ada pengaruh yang signifikan.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah perbedaan preferensi gender dalam kegiatan berbelanja online masih terjadi hingga saat ini dimana pengguna internet antara laki-laki dan perempuan semakin menuju kata seimbang. ABSTRACT
This study aimed to see if the difference of gender preference in online shopping still happens to this day. Our focused are about the emotional level, the level of practicality, and also the level of trust felt by every individual in terms of online shopping, which views its relationship towards the frequency of online shopping and the total amount spent on online shopping. The technique of data collection is done by questionnaire that can be filled online. on online shopping done by women. This research found that women are more often do online shopping than men, but in terms of total spending, men spend more than women. Level of trust become the biggest factor for men in deciding how often they do online shopping and how much money they spend in online shopping. The nature of risk aversion generally owned by men have influence on their activities in online shopping, while women no significant effects."
