"Bahasa merupakan sebuah alat komunikasi yang digunakan dalam kehidupan manusia. Kendatipun demikian, dalam berkomunikasi, seringkali manusia menemukan kesulitan dan terkadang berujung pada kesalahpahaman. Untuk mengungkapkan kekesalan terhadap kesulitan atau kesalahpahaman dalam berkomunikasi, umpatan digunakan. Namun, realitanya, umpatan ternyata tidak hanya digunakan untuk mengungkapkan kekesalan, tetapi juga keakraban. Penelitian ini membahas fungsi dan jenis umpatan serta kesepadanan terjemahan dalam takarir berbahasa Jerman dan bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif melalui studi pustaka dengan korpus data takarir bahsa Jerman dan takarir bahasa Indonesia dari musim pertama film serial Netflix yang berjudul How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) karya Philipp Käßbohrer dan Matthias Murmann. Hasil penelitian menggunakan teori Androutsopoulos (1998) mengenai fungsi dan jenis umpatan dan teori kesepadanan Nida dan Taber (1982) menunjukkan bahwa terdapat umpatan yang berbeda fungsi dan penerjemahan yang sepadan dan belum sepadan.

Language is a communication tool used in human life. Nevertheless, in communicating, people often find difficulty and sometimes, misunderstanding occurs. To express annoyance at the difficulty or misunderstanding in communicating, swearing words are used. However, in reality, swearing words are not only used to express annoyance or anger, but also intimacy, especially in a friendship. This study examines the function and types of swearing words and equivalence of translation in German and Indonesian subtitles. The research was conducted using a qualitative method through literature study with a corpus data on German and Indonesian subtitles from the first season of the Netflix series entitled How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) by Philipp Käßbohrer and Matthias Murmann. The results of this study, using Androutsopoulos' theory (1998) regarding the function and types of swearing words and the equivalence theory of Nida and Taber (1982), shows that there are swearing words that have different functions and types, and there are also translations that are equivalent and not yet equivalent."
