Indonesia is a law-based country with over 511,000 laws regulating its entire territory. For legal practitioners, this vast number of regulations makes the legal research process more complex and time-consuming. Despite that, only a few available legal research systems exist in Indonesia. Thus, legal research is often conducted manually using general search engines. The National Legal Documentation and Information Network (JDIHN), Indonesia’s official repository for legal documents, only offers specific search options for legal sources. Therefore, this research aims to develop an interactive interface design for a conversational search system solution that can help make the legal research process faster and simpler. This research employs a user-centered design approach that adheres to Schneiderman's Eight Golden Rules. Based on user needs identification conducted through user interviews, comparative analysis, and literature review, six main features have been identified, including Legal Source Search, Legal Compliance Assurance, Legal Language Compatibility Check, History, Collection, and Profile and Authentication. The first iteration produces a high-fidelity prototype and its evaluation results are obtained through Usability Testing (UT) with a success rate of 94% and System Usability Scale (SUS) with a score of 75,33 (category B). In the second iteration, the researchers make adjustments and improvements to the system design following the suggestions obtained in the first iteration. The result of the second iteration is an interface design in the form of a high-fidelity prototype of a conversational search system that has been refined."
