ABSTRAKMasa kejayaan Hindia-Belanda di bidang ekonomi dan dampak dari Politik Etis turut mendorong maju dan berkembangnya dunia iklan pada waktu itu. Banyak perusahaan berlomba-lomba agar produknya laku di pasaran, oleh sebab itu mereka memanfaatkaan media iklan untuk mewujudkan tujuannya. Situasi ini dimanfaatkan pula oleh perusahaan Belanda yaitu Van Nelle dengan mengimpor produknya ke Hindia-Belanda. Penggunaan sosok pribumi dalam iklan Tembaco Van Nelle salah satunya memiliki tujuan untuk menarik hati kaum tersebut agar mau membeli produk yang ditawarkan. Dari sana dapat dilihat citra yang berusaha dibangun oleh perusahaan berkaitan dengan sosok pribumi yang ditampilkan dalam iklan poster. Tulisan ini membahas bagaimana citra pribumi dibentuk dalam iklan poster Tembaco Van Nelle, dengan ruang lingkup pembahasan berada pada periode tahun 1925-1935 di Hindia-Belanda. Dalam meneliti citra pribumi, penulis menggunakan teori citra oleh Frank Jefkins dengan metode penelitian kualitatif.
The Indies glory period in the economic field and the impact of the Dutch Ethical Policy has contributed to the advancement and development of the advertising world at that time. Many companies were competing to have their products sold in the market, so they took advantage of advertising media to achieve their goals. This situation was exploited also by the Dutch company, Van Nelle, by importing its products to the Dutch East Indies. One of the purposes by using the indigenous figures in Tembaco Van Nelle advertising was to attract the people to buy products offered. From there it can be seen the image that the company was trying to build regarding the indigenous figure featured in the poster advertisement. This journal discusses about how the indigenous image of Indonesian is shaped in the Tembaco Van Nelle poster advertisement, with the scope of the discussion lies in the period 1925-1935 in the Dutch East Indies. In researching the indigenous image, the author uses the theory of image by Frank Jefkins with qualitative research methods. "
