ABSTRAKKemajuan Republik Rakyat Cina (RRC) dimulai sejak ditetapkannya gaige kaifang pada tahun 1978. Namun ternyata di tengah jalan, proses reformasi ini mengalami hambatan besar hingga nyaris berhenti. Antara rentang tahun 1989 hingga 1992 terjadi persaingan sengit antara faksi pemimpin-pemimpin RRC yang ingin melanjutkan gaige kaifang dan faksi yang ingin menghentikannya. Puncak persaingan tersebut adalah tahun 1992 ketika Deng Xiaoping sebagai orang yang mendukung untuk terus dilanjutkannya gaige kaifang, melakukan sebuah kampanye ke wilayah selatan RRC. Perjalanan ini hanya berlangsung selama sekitar satu bulan, namun dampak yang dihasilkannya sangat besar. Berkat nanxun inilah kemudian faksi pendukung reformasi memenangkan persaingan dan akhirnya RRC melanjutkan reformasi hingga hari ini. Setelah membaca makalah ini, pembaca akan memahami bagaimana RRC bertransformasi menjadi negara yang modern dan terbuka, bagaimana persaingan antar faksi-faksi dalam politik Cina dan bagaimana nanxun bisa berdampak besar bagi kelangsungan reformasi. Penelitian dan penulisan makalah ini menggunakan pendekatan sejarah yang mencakup tahapan heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi
ABSTRACTThe People s Republic of China s advancement began since the enactment of gaige kaifang in 1978. However, in the middle of the path, the reform process experienced major obstacles until it almost left off. Between the span of 1989 and 1992 there was fierce competition between the factions of the Chinese leaders who wanted to continue gaige kaifang and factions who wanted to halt it. The peak of the competition was in 1992 when Deng Xiaoping as the notable who supported the continued continuation of gaige kaifang, carried out a campaign to the southern region of the PRC. This trip only lasts for about a month, but the impact it produces is tremendously profound. Thanks to nanxun, the faction of the reform supporters won the competition and eventually PRC continued the reform to this day. After read this paper, the reader will apprehend how China has transformed into a modern and open country,
how rivalry between factions in Chinese politics and how nanxun can have a substantial impact on the
continuation of reform. The research and writing of this paper uses a historical approach that includes heuristics,
verification, interpretation, and historiography"
