"The member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN) have observed the Euro crisis that has hit the European Union (EU) since2009. It goes without saying that the EU’s integration path has inspired a similarregional movement in Southeast Asia. ASEAN member countries often refer toevents in the EU. The EU’s prolonged iinancial crisis has not only been instructiveto ASEAN countries, but also changed their perceptions of the EU. In addition, thecrisis has created momentum for ASEAN and EU to re»address their relationship.This article addresses the impact ofthe EU’s financial crisis on the inter-regionalcooperative hamework, expressed through the EU-ASEAN dialogue, ASEAN RegionalForum, and Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM). In assessing the impact of the fallout onthe inter-regional relations, data for this study were collected from otiicial documents,a literature review, and interviews with government officials, members of the busi-ness community, and scholars from ASEAN member countries. This article arguesthat ASEAN countries continue to acknowledge the EU as an important partner, butthe characteristics of the inter-regional relations are likely to change. The prolongedfinancial crisis has diminished the Southeast Asians’ perceptions ofthe EU as acompetent economic power, powerful, ther, they recognize that global power hasshilted to Asia."

"ASEM mengkaitkan kawasan Asia dan Eropa dalam pola hubungan terstruktur.Pola hubungan ini bersifat inter-regional sehingga tekanannya difokuskan pada organisasi regional. Organisasi regional itu adalah EU (Uni Eropa) dan ASEAN plus tiga negara Asia yang lain. Selain itu , negara-negara EU mungkin mendominasi jalannya ASEM 2006 sehingga peran Finlandia sangat menentukan agar ASEM 2006 tetap bersifat demokratis dan tidak menyerang satu partisipan tertentu."

"In the fast developing economies of Asia migration has come toplay an important role. However. "Dalam suatu organisasi regional yang turut mengintegrasikan perihal perekonomian seperti ASEAN, adanya penanggulangan disparitas adalah penting dalam mencapai tujuan dari berbagai kebijakan. Eksistensi disparitas dapat diestimasi melalui teori konvergensi yang beranjak dari Model Pertumbuhan Solow. Penelitian ini memaparkan bagaimana ASEAN secara perlahan mengalami tren penurunan disparitas antar negara anggota pasca pemekaran keanggotaan ASEAN hingga meliputi Indochina dalam dua dekade terakhir. Namun penelitian ini juga menyibak bahwa peranan perubahan struktural signifikan proses konvergensi di ASEAN. Perubahan struktural ini dipicu oleh Krisis Finansial Asia yang memberi guncangan pada berbagai variabel makroekonomi di Asia Tenggara.

In a regional organization which accommodates economic integration like ASEAN, reduction of disparities is important to achieve the target of policies. The existence of disparities can be estimated by convergence theory, of which based on Solow Growth Model. This paper explains how ASEAN slowly experienced the reduction of disparities among its member states after the expansion at Indochina in the last two decades. However, this paper also shows that the impact of structural break play a significant role in the process of convergence in ASEAN. This structural break was triggered by Asian Financial Crisis that affected various macroeconomic variables in Southeast Asia."

"Penelitian ini menginvestigasi analisis determinan permintaan asuransi jiwa dan perilaku anomali pada sisi permintaan asuransi jiwa di Asia-Pasifik tahun 2002-2013. Regresi PCSE-OLS, Difference-GMM dan System-GMM memberikan hasil analisis determinan yang bervariasi dibandingkan penelitian sebelumnya. Faktor ekonomi mempunyai pengaruh dominan terhadap permintaan asuransi jiwa dibandingkan faktor demografi. Tingkat pengangguran, inflasi, angka harapan hidup, rasio biaya kesehatan serta tingkat pendidikan merupakan determinan yang secara robust mempengaruhi permintaan asuransi jiwa. Perilaku anomali terdeteksi pada tahun 2010, yakni tiga tahun setelah krisis keuangan global 2007.

This research investigates the determinants of demand for life insurance and anomalous behavior on the demand side of life insurance in Asia-Pacific in 2002-2013. PCSE-OLS regression, Difference-GMM and System-GMM results varying determinants analysis than previous research. Economic factors have a dominant influence on the demand for life insurance than demographic factors. Unemployment rate, inflation, life expectancy, the ratio of the cost of health and education levels are robust determinants that influence the demand for life insurance. Anomalous behavior was detected in 2010, three years after the global financial crisis in 2007."
