"ABSTRAKReligious pluralisme is a term used to refer to positive attitudes toward world religions e.g., Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Budhism, Catholic, etc with the aim of creating a harmonious, peaceful, and prosperous life within a pluralist society by upholding peoples equal rights to live peacefully in this world. The aim of this article is to elaborate on the concept of religious pluralism and its relation to Islamic education. There have been a controversy caused by the differing definitions of religious pluralism, which has led to certain misconceptions and hence its alienation from Islamic education in general. In the face of such challenges, efforts must continually be made to foster mutual understanding and respect between people of different religions in order to avoid potential conflicts, either between people embracing different religions or people within the same religion. It is this positive awareness which religious pluralism seeks to foster. Thus, incorporating the concept of pluralism into Islamic education is a must, especially by making change to the system of Islamic education which for a long time has focused only on building individual or communal piety. The new priority should be given to the creation of social sensitivity toward pluralism, either through cultural, language, or religious interventions. This all aims at reinforcing the notion of Islam as Rahmatallilalamin."

"The member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN) have observed the Euro crisis that has hit the European Union (EU) since2009. It goes without saying that the EU’s integration path has inspired a similarregional movement in Southeast Asia. ASEAN member countries often refer toevents in the EU. The EU’s prolonged iinancial crisis has not only been instructiveto ASEAN countries, but also changed their perceptions of the EU. In addition, thecrisis has created momentum for ASEAN and EU to re»address their relationship.This article addresses the impact ofthe EU’s financial crisis on the inter-regionalcooperative hamework, expressed through the EU-ASEAN dialogue, ASEAN RegionalForum, and Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM). In assessing the impact of the fallout onthe inter-regional relations, data for this study were collected from otiicial documents,a literature review, and interviews with government officials, members of the busi-ness community, and scholars from ASEAN member countries. This article arguesthat ASEAN countries continue to acknowledge the EU as an important partner, butthe characteristics of the inter-regional relations are likely to change. The prolongedfinancial crisis has diminished the Southeast Asians’ perceptions ofthe EU as acompetent economic power, powerful, ther, they recognize that global power hasshilted to Asia."
