ABSTRAKPenulisan ini dibuat untuk mengetahui karier kriminal duta dari hal mendasar
yang bermula dari proses mempelajari tindak kejahatan yang biasa duta lakukan
seperti mencuri, menipu, serta membohongi korban dengan trik-trik yang telah
dipelajari kemudian menerapkan, selanjutnya memutuskan pilihan untuk tidak
melanjutkan profesi seperti duta. Analisis menggunakan sudut pandang teori
desistance serta teori career criminal dengan mengetahui alasan-alasan apa saja
yang melatarbelakangi duta berhenti untuk melakukan tindak kejahatan seperti
yang biasa duta lakukan. Penulisan ini menggunakan metode kajian kepustakaan
melalui penelusuran data sekunder yang berkaitan dengan fokus penulisan. Hasil
dari penulisan ini menyimpulkan bahwa alasan mendasar yang mengakibatkan
duta memilih untuk melakukan desistance berdasarkan alasan internal dan
eksternal dari dalam diri pelaku yang mengacu pada pemikiran dari Farrall &
Calverley dalam bukunya yang berjudul understanding desistance from crime.

criminal learning process of a duta including theft, fraud, and scam the victims
using certain tricks and methods learned, then practicing those tricks and methods
to finally decide to withdraw from the path of becoming a duta. Within the
analysis, theory of desistance and criminal career is being used to understand and
reasoning behind the decision of desisting from criminal career as a duta. Current
study utilizes secondary data as literary method within the research focus. Result
of current study shows that the reasoning behind this phenomenon are based on
internal and external explanations within the subjects itself, as mentioned by
