"The main aim of this volume is to offer a unified, self-contained introduction to the interplay of these three main areas of research, ergodic theory, hyperbolic dynamics, and dimension theory. Furthermore, it includes an introduction to the thermodynamic formalism, which is an important tool in dimension theory."

"This book gives a unified presentation in an abstract setting of the main theorems in bifurcation theory, as well as more recent and lesser known results. It covers both the local and global theory of one-parameter bifurcations for operators acting in infinite-dimensional Banach spaces, and shows how to apply the theory to problems involving partial differential equations. In addition to existence, qualitative properties such as stability and nodal structure of bifurcating solutions are treated in depth. "

"Mathematical control theory for a single partial differential equation (PDE) has dominated the research literature for quite a while, new, complex, and challenging issues have recently arisen in the context of coupled, or interconnected, PDE systems. This has led to a rapidly growing interest, and many unanswered questions, within the PDE community. By concentrating on systems of hyperbolic and parabolic coupled PDEs that are nonlinear, Mathematical Control Theory of Coupled PDEs seeks to provide a mathematical theory for the solution of three main problems: well-posedness and regularity of the controlled dynamics; stabilization and stability; and optimal control for both finite and infinite horizon problems along with existence/uniqueness issues of the associated Riccati equations.
Mathematical Control Theory of Coupled PDEs is based on a series of lectures that are outgrowths of recent research in the area of control theory for systems governed by coupled PDEs. The book develops new mathematical tools amenable to a rigorous analysis of related control problems and the construction of viable control algorithms. Emphasis is placed on the key role played by two interweaving features of the respective dynamical components: (1) propagation of singularities and exceptional "sharp" regularity of the traces of the solutions of the structure's hyperbolic component, and (2) analyticity of the solutions to the parabolic component of the structure, its propagation, and related analytic semigroup (singular) estimates.
In addition to providing a mathematical foundation on this topic, this book is useful to engineers and professionals involved in materials science and aerospace engineering in solving fundamental theoretical control problems such as stabilization and optimal control in the context of control systems described by dynamical coupled PDEs. Modern technological applications such as smart materials, interactive systems, and intelligent controls drive further interest in this topic. Included is a wealth of examples based on the structural acoustic model. This comprises a wave equation coupled on the interface with either a plate or a shell equation. This canonical model nonetheless displays a variety of phenomena of interest."

"There has been a growing interest in the use of Fourier analysis to examine questions of accuracy and stability of numerical methods for solving partial differential equations. This kind of analysis can produce particularly attractive and useful results for hyperbolic equations.
This book provides useful reference material for those concerned with computational fluid dynamics: for physicists and engineers who work with computers in the analysis of problems in such diverse fields as hydraulics, gas dynamics, plasma physics, numerical weather prediction, and transport processes in engineering, and who need to understand the implications of the approximations they use; and for applied mathematicians concerned with the more theoretical aspects of these computations."

"We explore full-duplex technique in wireless communication particularly for relay networks. We consider the relay to operate in full-duplex, which transmission and reception are conducted in the same channel. We investigate potential benefits of full-duplex technique in relay networks, which uses multiple antennas for transmission and reception combined with Amplify-Forward (AF) scenario. We study the effects of multiple antennas in terms of relay capacity. We derive an ergodic capacity expression using Tracy-Widom distribution. Using Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and perfect Channel State Information (CSI), we investigate three scenarios: First, we consider the relay to have antenna larger than that of both source and destination. Second, we consider both relay and destination to have antenna larger than that of source. Third, we consider both relay and source to have antenna larger than that of destination. We show the results that the capacity of relay with full-duplex technique is almost twice the capacity of half-duplex. We show that increasing the number of destination antennas is not help much when one of source antennas is small. Moreover, the capacity decreases due to channel hardening effect, when the number of destination antennas is larger than that of source."

"Dynamical systems arise in all fields of applied mathematics. The author focuses on the description of numerical methods for the detection, computation, and continuation of equilibria and bifurcation points of equilibria of dynamical systems. This subfield has the particular attraction of having links with the geometric theory of differential equations, numerical analysis, and linear algebra.
Several features make this book unique. The first is the systematic use of bordered matrix methods in the numerical computation and continuation of various bifurcations. The second is a detailed treatment of bialternate matrix products and their Jordan structure. Govaerts discusses their use in the numerical methods for Hopf and related bifurcations. A third feature is a unified treatment of singularity theory, with and without a distinguished bifurcation parameter, from a numerical point of view. Finally, numerical methods for symmetry-breaking bifurcations are discussed in detail, up to the fundamental cases covered by the equivariant branching lemma."

"Mathematical models are used to simulate, and sometimes control, the behavior of physical and artificial processes such as the weather and very large-scale integration (VLSI) circuits. The increasing need for accuracy has led to the development of highly complex models. However, in the presence of limited computational, accuracy, and storage capabilities, model reduction (system approximation) is often necessary. Approximation of Large-Scale Dynamical Systems provides a comprehensive picture of model reduction, combining system theory with numerical linear algebra and computational considerations. It addresses the issue of model reduction and the resulting trade-offs between accuracy and complexity. Special attention is given to numerical aspects, simulation questions, and practical applications."
