"Weird weather : tales of astronomical and atmospheric anomalies is about strange, unusual, and apparently inexplicable observations of the air and sky. Primarily these are in the earth's atmosphere, but there are corresponding phenomena in the atmospheres of other planets of the solar aystem, lightning on venus, jupiter, and saturn, whirlwinds and dust storms of mars, and auroras on jupiter. Topics include anomalous lights, anomalous sounds, spectacular effects of cloud illumination by the Sun or Moon, lightning phenomena, electrophonic sounds of lightning, aurora and meteors, tornado and whirlwind phenomena on Earth and Mars, usual atmospheric effects, mirages, and the possible astronomical influences on cloud and climate."

"[;This book embarks on a contemporary analysis of the interaction of economics and law relating to air transport. Among the issues discussed are the anomaly of exponential growth of air transport which makes airline profitability continue to be poor, the legislative impediments in most countries that preclude direct foreign investment in the industry, the confounding and muddled mess behind the economics of aircraft engine emissions, and the inexplicable reality that, although civil aviation is primarily meant to meet the needs of the people of the world, state regulators have upended the equation and given priority to national interests over the interests of the passenger. , This book embarks on a contemporary analysis of the interaction of economics and law relating to air transport. "The moon presents a broad array of tone, texture, and form. Capturing this in a painting or sketch at the eyepiece of a telescope – or even with binoculars – develops observational skills, leaves a record of the observation, and can also be a delightful and rewarding pastime. However, the choice of media available is extensive (acrylic paint, oils, pen, charcoal, etc., and even computer art programs), and there is no existing text that fully explains all lunar sketching and painting techniques in each respective medium. This beautiful and graphically rich book fulfills this requirement. It presents detailed step-by-step instructions, in the form of illustrated tutorials for every major medium employed to represent the moon. It also provides practical advice on how to sketch outdoors at night (not ideal conditions for an artist!).

"ABSTRAK
We use a generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity dummy approach
to analyze the influence of calendar anomalies on conditional daily returns and risk
for the stock markets of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa from 1996 to
2018. Month-of-the-year, turn-of-the-month, day-of-the-week, and holiday effects are
investigated. The most striking day-of-the-week effect is found for Tuesdays. The turn-
of-the-month effect is validated, while, interestingly, we find no evidence of a January
effect. A general holiday effect is not documented, but the Indian market shows a
significant pre- and post-holiday effect, the Chinese market is anomalous before public
holidays, and the South African market is affected only after holidays."

"This book contains the first detailed study of the use of ancient and medieval astronomical observations in order to investigate the moon’s secular acceleration from its discovery by Halley to the establishment of the magnitude of the acceleration by Richard Dunthorne, Tobias Mayer and Jérôme Lalande in the 1740s and 1750s. Making extensive use of previously unstudied manuscripts, this work shows how different astronomers used the same small body of preserved ancient observations in different ways in their work on the secular acceleration. In addition, this work looks at the wider context of the study of the moon’s secular acceleration, including its use in debates of biblical chronology, whether the heavens were made up of æther, and the use of astronomy in determining geographical longitude. It also discusses wider issues of the perceptions and knowledge of ancient and medieval astronomy in the early-modern period."

"The book is organized by ease of observation, lunar phases and the brighter planets come first, while solar eclipses, the aurora, and comets come later. Celestial Delights also includes a hefty dose of sky lore, astronomical history, and clear overviews of current science. It provides a handy reference to upcoming naked-eye events, with information broken out in clear and simple diagrams and tables that are cross-referenced against a detailed almanac for each year covered. Most broad-ranging astronomy field guides focus on stars, constellations, and the deep sky, but tend to ignore planetary events, which are in by far the most widely observable aspects of the changing night sky."
