Menganalisa ?The Girl with the Dragon
tangguh di ?The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? dan ?Gone Girl? karya David Fincher sangat berkaitan dengan
In the 21st century, the number of appearances of strong female characters in Hollywood movies is increasing.
There are a lot of circumstances in which female characters play as heroines or are powerful over other characters
in Hollywood movies. Examining David Fincher?s ?The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? and ?Gone Girl?, this paper
argues that the portrayal of strong female characters in the two films is only to a particular extent. By presenting a
number of analyses of how relationships go between male and female characters in the two films, the paper shows
that the representation of strong female characters in David Fincher?s ?The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? and
?Gone Girl? is strongly related with the occurrence of power imbalance in relationships yet only falls under the
concept of binary opposition, in which female characters are seen as strong or powerful only when they undergo
reversal of power in relationships.;In the 21st century, the number of appearances of strong female characters in Hollywood movies is increasing.

Travel writing has become a medium of documentation for European explorers, including those from the Netherlands when exploring outside Europe in the 16th to 19th centuries. Now travel writing has been recognized as an important historical source for the Netherlands and also for the regions visited by Dutch explorers. This research focuses on the book Mijn Indische Reis (1931), a travel writing of H.P. Berlage while in the Dutch East Indies in 1923. Berlage's identity as a Westerner who traveled to the East is a unique element in examining how Berlage as a Westerner assessed Dutch Indies culture. By using a postcolonial theoretical approach, namely Orientalism by Edward Said, this research finds that there are binary opposition narratives in the cultural comparison between the Dutch East Indies and the West carried out by Berlage. The results of the research show that there is a change in Berlage's binary opposition narrative so that his identity is reconstructed in the East. The ambivalence of the binary opposition narrative at the end of Berlage's journey shows a change in Berlage's orientalist view as a Westerner by expressing his criticism of colonial practices carried out by the Dutch. So it can be concluded that Mijn Indische Reis (1931) is a medium for Berlage's criticism of Western views on the East."

The binary opposition is a metaphysics of presence. This binary opposition can be found in structure that emerge hierarchy. This hierarchy is history of Western philosophy. The binary opposition emerge stable and certain meaning. This case is deconstructed by Derrida. This deconstruction of Derrida emerge the consequence about meaning of text. The method of deconstruction is used to find out and to point out that consequence of Derrida's deconstruction. The deconstruction of Derrida on the binary opposition is not looking for meaning, but it creates meanings that related to text, context, intertextuality, interpreter, and language games. Derrida rejected binary opposition and emerge plurality of meanings."

ABSTRACT
Using Shulamith Firestone’s theoretical framework of The Dialectic of Sex, the focus of this research is to explore the underlying notions of romantic love and pregnancy in the novel Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Analysis of the relationships between the heroine and the love interests reveal how unhealthy love becomes a form of oppression for women. The culture of romance in the novel demystifies romantic love as the novel reveals the destructive side of romantic love. Further analysis on the perceptions from media and Nick Dunne toward pregnancy shows the importance of women’s reproductive function to withstand the establishment of the patriarchal nuclear family. However, the way the female character, Amy Dunne, uses traditional pregnancy aided with artificial reproduction turns pregnancy as a source of power for her. Thus, artificial reproduction in the text enables women to gain power without diminishing the bond of nuclear family. As women gain power through control of their biological conditions, nuclear family is no longer viewed as a form of women’s oppression."

Researches on identity through written narrative such as memoir and biography have been popular in the linguistics field over the decades. In this paper, a famous memoir written by Michelle Robinson Obama, Becoming (2018), is examined as a means to analyze the construction of identities. This particular memoir is chosen because of the strong personal narrative and inspiring story which recounts the struggle of the African American woman against discrimination in the United States. This paper focuses on the selected section of the memoir, Becoming Us, which is examined through the Discourse-Historical Analysis (DHA) pioneered by Ruth Wodak. This approach offers several discursive strategies, some of which are referential/nomination and predication that are applied to analyze the linguistic features which provide positive, negative, and neutral representations of the social actor. All of these representations then contribute to construct Michelle Obama’s cultural and racial identities. The novelty of this research lies in a more linguistic approach and historical context as the endeavors to examine the identities."

To Kill A Mockingbird karya Harper Lee.

This research looks at the analysis of Carl Jung‟s shadow archetype on characters in Harper Lee‟s To Kill A Mockingbird. Shadow archetype or the shadow is the archetype of „darkness‟ representing repressed qualities that individuals do not want to face within themselves. As a result, individuals tend to project their shadows (poorness of qualities they have repressed) on others. Using the concept of shadow archetype, this journal aims at figuring out which characters play a role as the shadows for other characters and what aspects are represented by the shadow characters. The method used in this research is qualitative method in which the author uses quotes from the book to do the analysis. The author analyzes there are three characters who become the shadows for other characters. The three characters are Boo Radley, which represents the shadow fear of difference; Tom Robinson, and Calpurnia, which represent the shadow of racism.

ABSTRACT This research attempts to explain the translation of second person forms of address in direct conversations found in novel Pulang to Heimkehr nach Jakarta. The equivalents of the forms of address chosen by the translator are analyzed according to the social relation between the speaker and the listener. This research also attempts to explain the factors underlying the translator rsquo s decision to preserve Indonesian form of address or to omit it in the target text. This research applies the qualitative method in form of literature study. The literature study gives the principles for analyzing and comparing all forms of address found in the novel Pulang and their translation in the novel Heimkehr nach Jakarta. The result shows that the different social and cultural context in Indonesia and Germany underlies the translator rsquo s consideration in either choosing an equivalent in German, preserving the Indonesian form of address, or omitting it in the target text. Furthermore, the result shows that communication situation and language principles also affect the translation of the forms of address."
