Total quality management that is one of the original approach to run a business that seeks to maximize profits and competitiveness through the continuous improvement of the product, is now starting to be implemented in many ogled educational institutions, including universities that have the same three elements, namely inputs, processes and outputs are similarly put human resources as a vital component. Human resources as a vital component of the college should get the attention and treatment as required in TQM, for example in a shared vision, cross-functional collaboration, empowerment and involvement, participative management style, availability of training and further education as well as the availability of communication channels effectively, implementation of TQM in fact is an attempt to change the traditional irrational management-towards modern rational management that is one of the elements on decision-making based on facts."

"Sebagai institusi pendidikan berbasis agama di Indonesia, proses belajar di dalam pondok pesantren tidak hanya terjadi secara satu arah namun didalamnya juga terdapat keterlibatan para santri secara aktif. Tulisan ini berfokus pada proses pemaknaan dan pembentukan reflexive identity para santri PPTQ Al-Hakmiah sebagai bentuk dari proses belajar untuk menjadi seorang santri. Dalam konteks ini pendekatan connectionsim penulis gunakan untuk menjelaskan proses pemaknaan dari definisi santri yang khas oleh setiap santri yang didasari oleh keberagaman latar belakang sosial budaya. Proses belajar yang terjadi di dalam pondok pesantren merupakan apa yang disebut sebagai legitimate peripheral participation dimana hal ini sangat menentukan cara mencapai tujuan belajar yang bervariasi, porses belajar ini tentu saja tidak luput dari trial and error dengan adanya kecenderungan centripetal dan centrifugal yang memotivasi santri untuk terus melakukan proses pembelajaran di dalam pondok pesantren. Dengan mewawancarai santri yang belum memiliki pengalaman belajar di pondok pesantren, penelitian ini mencari tahu bagaimana mereka menghadapi perbedaan kebudayaan untuk mencapai tujuan belajar yang telah mereka maknai.

As a religion-based educational institution in Indonesia, the learning process in Islamic boarding schools does not only occur in one direction but also includes the active involvement of santri. This paper focuses on the process of interpreting and forming the reflexive identity of the PPTQ Al-Hakmiah students as a form of the learning process to become a santri. In this context, the writer uses the connectionsim approach to explain the process of meaning from the typical santri definition by each santri based on the diversity of socio-cultural backgrounds. The learning process that occurs in Islamic boarding schools is what is referred to as legitimate peripheral participation where this greatly determines how to achieve varied learning goals, this learning process of course does not escape trial and error with the existence of centripetal and centrifugal tendencies that motivate students to continue carry out the learning process in Islamic boarding schools. By interviewing students who do not have experience studying in Islamic boarding schools, this study seeks to find out how they deal with cultural differences to achieve the learning goals they have defined."
