"Forensic odontology (dental forensics) can provide useful evidence in both criminal and civil cases, and therefore remains a part of the wider discipline of forensic science. As an example from the toolbox of forensic odontology, the practice and experience on bitemark analysis is reviewed here in brief. The principle of using visible bitemarks in crime victims or in other objects as evidence is fundamentally based on the observation that the detailed pattern of dental imprints tend to be practically unique for each individual. Therefore, finding such an imprint as a bitemark can bear a strong testimony that it was produced by the individual that has the matching dental pattern. However, the comparison of the observed bitemark and the suspected set of teeth will necessarily require human interpretation, and this is not infallible. Both technical challenges in the bitemarks and human errors in the interpretation are possible. To minimise such errors and to maximise the value of bitemark analysis, dedicated procedures and protocols have been developed, and the personnel taking care of the analysis need to be properly trained. In principle the action within the discipline should be conducted as in evidence-based dentristy, i.e. accepted procedures should have known error rates. Because of the involvement of human interpretation, even personal performance statistics may be required from legal expert statements. The requirements have been introduced largely due to cases where false convictions based on bitemark analysis have been overturned after DNA analysis."

Pada 35 sampel, dilakukan analisis radiografis kepadatan tulang alveolar di sekitar implan dental menggunakan piranti lunak SIDEXIS-XG dan pengukuran frekuensi resonansi implan dengan mengunakan Osstell ISQ segera setelah pemasangan implan dan saat kontrol bulan ketiga.Tidakterdapat hubungan bermakna antara analisis radiografis kepadatan tulang alveolar di sekitar implan dental dan frekuensi resonansi implan dental (r = -0,102 di awal dan r = 0,146 saat kontrol, p> 0,05), namun terdapat perubahan bermakna kepadatan tulang alveolar di sekitar implan dental (p = 0,005) dan frekuensi resonansi implan dental (p = 0,000) selama masa penyembuhan.

On 35 samples, alveolar bone density surrounding dental implant was analyzed using SIDEXIS-XG software and resonance frequency of dental implant was acquired by Osstell ISQ right after dental implant placement and on third-month follow-up. No significant correlation was reported between radiographic analysis of alveolar bone density surrounding dental implant and resonance frequency of dental implant (r = - 0,102 at baseline dan r = 0,146 on follow-up, p> 0,05). "Implan gigi merupakan suatu perangkat dari bahan biomaterial yang dipasang dan ditanamkan ke tulang rahang melalui pembedahan sebagai pengganti gigi yang hilang. Topografi permukaan implan gigi dengan kekasaran permukaan dan lapisan berpori telah diusulkan untuk meningkatkan osseointegrasi dan induksi pertumbuhan jaringan tulang baru (bone ingrowth) serta mengurangi efek stress shielding akibat modulus Young yang tinggi dari material implan. Studi ini menyajikan pengembangan desain implan gigi dengan lapisan berpori (hybrid porous dental implant) yang dapat mengisi jalur ulir implan melalui metode metal injection molding (MIM). Fokus studi ini yaitu desain, fabrikasi, dan analisa inti padat implan gigi dari Ti-6Al-4V yang dilakukan dengan mempertimbangkan fitur geometri yang mendukung kesuksesan jangka panjang implan gigi serta dapat dilakukannya proses injeksi feedstock Ti-6Al-4V untuk memenuhi cavity pada inti padat implan gigi baik secara simulasi numerik maupun eksperimental.Implan gigi merupakan suatu perangkat dari bahan biomaterial yang dipasang dan ditanamkan ke tulang rahang melalui pembedahan sebagai pengganti gigi yang hilang. Dental implant is a device made of biomaterial that is surgically attached and implanted into the jawbone as a replacement for missing teeth. The surface topography of dental implant with surface roughness and porous coating has been proposed to increase osseointegration and induction of bone ingrowth and reduce the stress shielding effect due to the high Young's modulus of the implant material. This study presents the development of a dental implant design with porous coating (hybrid porous dental implant) that can fill the implant thread path through the metal injection molding (MIM) method. The focus of this study is the design, fabrication, and analysis of the solid core of dental implants from Ti-6Al-4V which was carried out by considering the geometric features that support the long-term success of dental implants and the injection of Ti-6Al-4V feedstock to fill the cavity in the solid core dental implants both numerically and experimentally."
