"ABSTRAKMaxillary permanent canines are impacted in about 2% of orthodontic patients, second only in frequency of impaction to third molars. Bringing an impacted canine into the arch creates a set of problems primarily because it is usually a long way from the line of occlusion. Four cases of impacted maxillary canines are presented to show some of the problems encountered during orthodontic traction of these teeth. The cases were treated using a preadjusted edgewise appliances. Careful judgement are needed to treat impacted maxillary canines successfully and to minimize discouraging side effects that often occurs during the procedure."

"ABSTRAKImpacted mandibular molars often caused by locking of the adjacent teeth, lack of space and many other reasons. Surgical extraction used to be the first choice in treating the severely impacted molars. In this article, firstly a horizontally impacted mandibular first molar and a mandibular second molar were diagnosed radiographically. By surgical crown exposure, combined with elastic traction, the teeth can be pulled occlusally into proper position. However, a thorough observation to control the position of the impacted molars during traction is still necessary."

"ABSTRAKThe aim of this study was to determine the difference of oral hygiene and teeth caries in children with asthma bronchiale, age 3-6 years with several levels of frequency of asthma attack. Fifty children with asthma bronchiale were chosen from Pulmonology Clinic University of Indonesia RSCM. This study used Green and Vermillion to asses the oral hygiene and def-t index for measured caries. The frequency of asthma attack was the amount of attack of children using drugs per year. The sample was divided into 3 groups. The first group consists of children with asthma 2-6 attacks per year. Second group with 7-12 attacks per year and the third group more than 12 times per year. One way ANOVA test showed that the oral hygiene and def-t had significant differences between the three groups (p<0.001). Tukey test showed that oral hygiene had significant differences between the group I-II and I-III (p<0.001). In Tukey test for def-t showed there was a significant difference between the group I-II, I-III, II-III respectively (p<0.001). There was a strong correlation between oral hygiene and frequency of asthma attack (r=0.68), def-t and frequency of asthma attacks (r=0.75), and oral hygiene and caries (r=0.85)."

"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilakukan untuk membuktikan peran kontak prematur dan bloking terhadap bentuk kerusakan tulang alveolar secara klinis. Pengamatan dilakukan pada 92 elemen gigi posterior bawah. Pengamatan secara radiografis dilakukan dengan melihat bentuk kerusakan tulang alveolar, berbentuk vertikal atau horisontal. Sampel diambil dari gigi yang mengalami kontak prematur dan atau bloking dengan kehilangan perlekatan > 5 mm. Penelitian ini diuji dengan uji statistik secara cross sectional dengan Chi kuadrat dengan. koreksi Yates pada p = 0,05. Hasil Penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa kontak prematur mesial berbeda bermakna pada sisi distal ( X > 3,84 ), kontak prematur distal berbeda bermakna pada sisi mesial dan distal ( X > 3,84 ), bloking bukal berbeda bermakna pada sisi-distal ( X > 3,84 ), bloking lingual tidak berbeda bermakna pada sisi mesial dan distal ( X < 3,84 ), kontak prematur + bloking berbeda bermakna di sisi mesial dan distal ( X > 3,84 ). Penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa kerusakan tulang yang terjadi lebih banyak berbentuk vertikal. Gigi dengan kelainan periodontal memiliki nilai plak > 1. "
