Untuk menjawab tentangan tersebut Tim UI SMV membuat suatu kendaraan, kendaraan yang di kembangkan oleh tim UI SMV adalah kendaraan bertenaga motor bakar satu silinder dengan satu penumpang. Pada dasarnya pembuatan kendaraan hemat energi adalah untuk keperluan perlombaan sehingga spesifikasi kendaraan mengacu pada regulasi. Skripsi ini diperuntukan sebagai sarana untuk mengetahui konsumsi bahan bakar dari kendaraan prototipe SEM dengan berbagai faktor yang mempengaruhi seperti hambatan pada kendaraan, kondisi lintasan, dan strategi berkendara. Metode yang digunakan untuk meneliti performa kendaraan ini menggunakan simulasi Matlab. Parameter yang di ikut sertakan dalam simulasi adalah strategi berkendara yang tercatat dalam grafik, sistem transmisi yang digunakan, karakteristik kendaraan seperti pusat titik massa, dan kondisi jalan, serta efek aerodinamika pada kendaraan. Setelah mendapat data hasil simulasi, data tersebut kemudian di komparasi dengan data hasil perlombaan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jumlah bahan bakar yang digunakan dalam menempuh jarak tertentu dalam satuan Km per liter bahan bakar. Setelah dilakukan simulasi di dapat hasil penggunanan dari bahan bakar sebesar 1000 km/liter

Car and vehicle nowdays almost at the top of development, with a lot of type vehicle produced. Than there is energy crisis around the world, one condition that every vehicle should accomplish is optimum energy effisience. To answer the challenge UI SMV team build a vehicle ,vehicle that developed by UI SMV team is vehicle powered by single cylinder internal combustion motor with single seater driver. Basically manufacturing of low consume vehicle in purpose for competition so that vehicle specification refer to competition regulation. This researce intende to find out fuel consume by vehicle with all depended factor such as vehicle drag, track condition, and driving. Simulation on Matlab used as method to examine vehicle phenomenon. Effect parameter include in simulation is graphically recorded driving behavior, transmission sytem attached in vehicle, vehicle physical character such as center of gravity, and track condition, aerodynamic effect of vehicle also included. after simulation result data obtained, data result will be compared with competition result. Result of researce is amount of fuel consumed by vehicle to travel certain distance in Kilometer distance per litre of fuel. After simulation finish, the conclusion for simulation is vehicle can travel 1000km with 1 litre of fuel."
