"Pipa penyalur merupakan salah satu media transportasi hasil produksi yang banyak digunakan di industri hingga saat ini. Integritas peralatan terutama pipa penyalur harus dijaga agar dapat beroperasi sesuai target produksi. Sebagai sarana utama dalam operasional, penyusunan program perawatan merupakan hal yang krusial. Perawatan pada pipa meliputi inspeksi, line checking, dan pembersihan Right of Way (ROW) yang dilakukan secara berkala. Pada saat kegiatan inspeksi berlangsung, terdapat beberapa permasalahan dalam menentukan integritas pada pipa penyalur, diantaranya kondisi pipa yang tertutup dengan tanah (underground, half-buried), tertutup semak, dan diatas tanah disertai dengan jarakanya yang tergolong panjang sehingga memerlukan suatu metode dalam penetapan kegiatan perawatannya. Pada praktik keinsinyuran ini, penulis akan memaparkan metode agar program perawatan pipa penyalur dapat berjalan secara efektif. Pipa penyalur yang dijadikan sebagai objek merupakan pipa yang tidak memiliki fasilitas pigging sehingga tidak memenuhi kriteria untuk dilakukan metode intelligent pigging. Strategi yang dijelaskan dalam praktik keinsinyuran ini mencakup inspeksi pada pipa yang berlokasi sebagian terkubur, daerah fittings dan pipa diatas tanah. Berdasarkan pekerjaan yang telah dilakukan dengan kombinasi LRUT dan UT konvensional, mayoritas anomali yang ditemukan berupa soil corrosion dan atmospheric corrosion yang dapat dicegah dengan aplikasi coating dengan membersihkan permukaan pipa, aplikasi proteksi katodik dan inspeksi jalur pipa penyalur secara berkala.

Pipeline are one of the production media for transportation that is widely used in industry nowadays. The integrity of pipelines must be maintained to fulfill the production targets. As the operation major equipment, preparing a maintenance program for pipeline is crucial. Pipeline maintenance includes inspections, line checking, and Right of Way (ROW) cleaning should be carried out regularly. During the inspection activity, there are several problems for determining the integrity of the pipeline, including the condition of the pipe being covered with soil (underground, half-buried), covered by bushes, and above ground accompanied by a relatively long distance so that it requires specific method in determining pipeline condition. This study will explain the pipeline maintenance methods to optimize production activity. Pipeline with no pigging facilities will be used in this study, so it will not be capable to execute in-line inspection method. The strategy described in this engineering practice includes inspection of partially buried pipes, fitting areas and above ground pipelines. Based on the work that has been carried out with LRUT and UT method, the majority of anomalies found are in the form of soil corrosion and atmospheric corrosion which can be prevented by applying coatings by cleaning the pipe surface, applying cathodic protection and periodically inspecting the distribution pipeline.

"This multi-contributed volume provides a practical, applications-focused introduction to nonlinear acoustical techniques for nondestructive evaluation. Compared to linear techniques, nonlinear acoustical/ultrasonic techniques are much more sensitive to micro-cracks and other types of small distributed damages. Most materials and structures exhibit nonlinear behavior due to the formation of dislocation and micro-cracks from fatigue or other types of repetitive loadings well before detectable macro-cracks are formed. Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) tools that have been developed based on nonlinear acoustical techniques are capable of providing early warnings about the possibility of structural failure before detectable macro-cracks are formed. This book presents the full range of nonlinear acoustical techniques used today for NDE. The expert chapters cover both theoretical and experimental aspects, but always with an eye towards applications. Unlike other titles currently available, which treat nonlinearity as a physics problem and focus on different analytical derivations, the present volume emphasizes NDE applications over detailed analytical derivations.
