"In eastern Flores, on the Tanjung Bunga peninsula (among Western Lamaholot speakers), several times a year, ritual narratives (opak) are performed on a square dancing area, where all the clans of the same ceremonial land meet. Three types of narrative are sung, according to three kinds of rituals. The article explains the context, content and performance details of these stories, performed all night long. Why do the various clans continue to sing all these narrative? What values do these long poems have for people who sing them? Until now, studies on this subject have been remarkably few, and not even a partial transcription or translation of these narratives is available. This article offers a preliminary insight into these sung narratives, to show how vital they still are in eastern Flores."

"Municipal and household-level determinants for Indonesian children out of school are studied using multilevel analysis of 221,392 children in 136,182 households in 497 municipalities. The higher the poverty rate and public education expenditure per capita, the higher the likelihood that children drop out. However, a high(er) mean of municipality education expenditure significantly increases the likelihood that children will never attend school. At the household level, expenditure, spending on education, and head of household's educational background have significant effect on reducing the number of the children out of school."

Several studies have analyzed the incidence of migration based on the classical theory of migration through the difference between rural and urban wages. Still, not many studies have discussed risk preference as a determinant of migration. Using IFLS 4 and IFLS 5 data and logistic regression analysis, this study examines the effect of household risk preference in estimating the probability of rural-urban migration, both partial and total migration of household members. In addition, this study attempts to estimate the characteristics of individuals who go on the migration of some household members. The estimation results show that, in general, migration is more likely to be carried out by risk-loving households. Furthermore, migration of all household members is also more likely to be carried out by risk-loving households and their members have relatively the same risk preferences. Meanwhile, partial migration is more likely to be carried out if households have somewhat different risk preferences. Individuals who go on the partial migration are more likely to be risk averse individuals but are relatively less risk averse to other family members. "

"This fascinating book reveals how habits are made, broken and, more than anything, manipulated. It's full of unbelievable stories, such as: The supermarket analyst who came up with a way of determining which women were pregnant before they even knew - so he could influence what they bought in his store. One day a furious father came in complaining that his 15-year-old daughter was being targeted with pregnancy products; the store apologised and considered scrapping the programme. A week later, the father returned to apologise - his daughter was, they'd discovered that morning, pregnant! Eugene, the brain-damaged patient who can't form new memories or even register what's going on."
