"The choice among modes of intercity transport depends on conditions of not only intercity transport modes but also intracity transport in both the departure city and the arrival city. Intracity transport conditions might be advantageous for one intercity mode and disadvantageous for others. Intercity and intracity transport conditions are complex and need to be approached systemically. This study proposes an approach based on the passengers? preferences. The logit model was adapted to evaluate the transport modes? choices in competition. This model is called the ?Adapted Mixed Multinomial Logit Model? (AMML). It was applied on the Jakarta-Bandung corridor in both directions. It contributes to a complete approach for intercity transport mode choice by considering the influence of the intracity transport conditions in both the departure and arrival cities. The results proved that the choice of intercity transport mode depends not only on its own quality of service but also, importantly, on that of the intracity transport systems."

The present work deals with the transportation problematic between two Indonesian cities, and also with the high modal competition on the Jakarta-Bandung corridor. Passengers preferences are the main variables for the final modal choice. In transportation, the Logit models are widely used as a method to explore the problematic of modal choices involving a lot of different variables, but in this research, they are not compatible to solve our defined problems because there are some particular identified variables to be taken into account. Therefore we propose the "Adapted Mixed Multinomial Logit (AMML)" Model as a tool for analysis towards passenger's decision in modal choices. One part on this research deals with identification and understanding of the intracity transport problems of origin and destination on the choice of transport mode in Jakarta-Bandung corridor (Jakarta-Bandung and Bandung-Jakarta direction). The second part of this research deals with the final decision process by analyzing the results of questionnaires addressed to many users of the Jakarta-Bandung corridor. Taking into account the characteristics of each intercity mode of transportation, the analysis identifies the most competitive intercity transport mode for each situation from departure city to arrival city."

"An effective and real-time traffic information network is highly important and could contribute to decreasing traffic volume and costs by reducing fuel consumption and saving time for drivers in reaching their destinations. This study provides an extensive analysis regarding the drivers? acceptance levels of the current implementation of the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) in Kuala Lumpur. A proposed model from the literature review based on the known Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is introduced. The ITS system characteristics, information quality, system quality, and service quality were investigated as external variables. The resulting analysis showed that information quality is the highest influential factor followed by system quality. The results also revealed that service quality had no effect on acceptance levels."

"Cold formed
steel has relatively high width-to-thickness ratio elements, which causes it to
buckle easily. Combining it with timber laminas would be an effective solution
for reducing this buckling problem. This research focuses on the connection
system of a cold formed steel-timber composite, which was obtained
by attaching several timber laminas to the web part of cold formed
steel using screws. The connection used two bolts that were 8 mm in diameter,
as well as two different kinds of side plates: steel and plywood. Cold formed
steel 75Z08 and Swietenia mahagoni
(moisture content 12.2%; specific gravity 0.77) were used for connections and
were loaded in parallel and perpendicular directions. In addition, the
connections of cold formed steel (without timber laminas) using
self-drilling screw fasteners were tested until failure. Numerical analysis
predicting the load-slip curve and apparent yield load of the composite joints was
carried out using the DOWEL program and the European Yield Theory,
respectively. The test results showed that the connection system with steel
side plates is capable of accommodating the strength increase of composite
member, as it has a maximum load carrying capacity and initial slip modulus of
about 4.5 and 2 times larger than those of the cold formed steel connections, respectively. In the case
of a connection system with plywood side plates, its joint properties are
similar to those of the cold formed steel connection, except that it has larger
joint deformation."

"Knowledge-Growing system (KSG) is a system that is capable of growing its knowledge along with the accretion in information as the time passes and uses it as the basis of making a decision. the knowledge growing mechanism in the system is performed by using observation multi-time A3s (OMA3S) information-inferencing fusion method. the smallest structure of KGS is an inteligent agent. "The purpose of this paper was to investigate the performance of ceramic filters made from a mixture of natural clay, rice bran, and iron powder in removing cadmium from pulp industry effluent. Some parameters were examined such as acidity, total dissolved solid (TDS), total suspended solid (TSS), electrical conductivity (EC), and cadmium concentration. Results showed that the composition percentage of the ceramic filter, which in this case amounted to 87.5% natural clay, 10% rice bran, and 2.5% iron powder, may decrease cadmium concentration in pulp industry effluent by up to 99.0%. Furthermore, the permeate flux decreased after 30 minutes of filtration time, and subsequently became constant at one hour of contact time. In addition, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) micrographs of the ceramic filter surfaces indicate that ceramic filters have a random pore structure and can be categorized as microfiltration filters."

"The research aims to scale up a small-scale stirred batch reactor to a large-scale stirred batch reactor in order to degum crude palm oil for use as a raw material in biodiesel production. The scale-up is based on the similarity of fluid Reynolds numbers in the two differently sized reactors. To achieve this aim, computational fluid dynamic modeling and simulations of the two reactors were performed. A small-scale palm oil degumming process was carried out in a 250 cc autoclave reactor using a magnetic stirrer at 500 rpm. The simulation results of this small reactor yielded a fluid Reynolds number in the range of 5 to 3,482. The large-scale reactor proposed in this research is 1.25 m3 in volume and is equipped with two impellers: a pitched blade impeller and a Rushton turbine impeller. The pitched blade impeller is placed over the Rushton turbine impeller. They are rotated at 100 rpm. Under this setting and operation, the resulting fluid Reynolds number was in the range of 486 to 202,000. This result indicates that the large-scale reactor was able to reproduce the reaction performance obtained in the small-scale reactor."
