"This study focuses on the way in which the Dutch monophthongal vowels are pronounced by Indonesian students. To investigate whether Indonesian students realize the Dutch vowels correctly, especially when they are stressed, I analysed duration and quality of stressed and unstressed Dutch vowels. Measurements were done on the duration and the formant frequencies of the vowels spoken by Indonesian students and by native speakers of Dutch as well. Statistical analysis showed that in general the differences in duration between vowels spoken by the Indonesian students and by the native speakers were not significant. However, the effect of stress on the lengthening of the vowels was stronger for the Indonesian students than for the native speakers. In addition, statistical analysis of the formant frequencies confirmed that the non-native speakers realized the Dutch vowels slightly differently from the Dutch native speakers. The Indonesian students pronounced the stressed vowels more clearly than their unstressed counterparts; yet their vowel diagram is smaller than the vowel diagram of the native speakers."

"ABSTRAKIndonesia telah mengalami kontak bahasa dengan Belanda. Hal tersebut disebabkan oleh pendudukan Belanda selama lebih dari 350 tahun. Salah satu hasil kontak bahasa tersebut adalah adanya kata serapan yang dipergunakan dalam istilah bangunan yang mengacu pada proses, bahan-bahan dan alat-alat. Dalam paper ini, akan dipaparkan bentuk-bentuk kata serapan dan perbedaan ejaan dan makna antara istilah bangunan hasil serapan dalam bahasa Indonesia dengan istilahnya dalam bahasa donor. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif disimpulkan bahwa perubahan makna dan ejaan didasarkan pada perbedaan budaya dan sistem bahasa yang berlaku.

ABSTRACTIndonesia has a language contact with Netherlands. This is due to Netherlands 39; occupation in Indonesia for more than 350 years. One of the impacts of the language contact is the word absorption in the field of architecture that refers to the process, materials, and tools. This paper will explain about the forms of word absorption, the spelling differences, as well the meaning differences between the architectural terms that have been absorbed into Indonesian word using the donor language 39;s term. Using a qualitative descriptive method, it can be concluded that the changes of both meaning and spelling are based on a culture and system of the language that is used. "

The phonological survey focuses on vowel lengthening, gemination, pre-nasalized phonemes, and sandhi. The second part of this paper proposes an insight into Bajo lexicology, restricted to nominal and verbal derivation."

"This article focuses on the psycholinguistic study of the syntactic aspects of Dutch-Indonesian interlanguage. The study is based on the interlanguage syntax observed in an oral test given to thirty Indonesian learners of Dutchas a second language, whose purpose is to test the processability theory of Pienemann (2005a, b, c, 2007). The results of the study provide evidence for the validity of Pienemann?s theory. Learners who have acquired sentences with the highest level of processing will also already have acquired sentences with a lower level of processing. The results from learners with a high level of Dutch proficiency verify the processability theory with more certainty than the results of learners with a lower proficiency. Learners tend to rely on meaning if they are not confident of their grammatical proficiency. Interlanguage is the result of the immediate need to encode in the mind concepts and ideas into the form of linguistic items, within a fraction of a millisecond, whilst the supporting means are limited, and whilst learners already have acquired a first language and possibly another language as well."
