"Dalam pelaksanaan program KB yang memasuki tahun anggaran 1987/1988 sebagai tahun ke empat dalam pelita ke empat, konsep kebijaksanaan pelaksanaan KB Mandiri merupakan salah satu upaya yang efektif dan efisien. Untuk mencapai hal tersebut diperlukan beberapa masukan tentang ciri-ciri peserta KB Mandiri dalam keikutsertaannya dalam Reluarga Berencana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh masukan mengenai ciri-ciri peserta KB Mandiri dan faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan penggunaan klinik KB swasta. Dipilihnya klinik swasta DKI karena sesuai dengan prioritas sasaran tahun 1987-1988 adalah menggalakkan penggarapan pada sasaran masyarakat kota / industri pada strata sosial ekonomi menengah keatas yang sebagian besar menggunakan pelayanan klinik KB swasta. Disamping itu peneliti ingin menyumbangkan hash penelitian ini kepada klinik klinik swasta DKI agar dapat berperan secara optimal dalam program KB Mandiri ini. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian diskriptip cross-sectional dengan kuesioner kepada peserta KB dari klinik Panca Warga, Gunung Sahari dan Klinik YKB Pisangan Baru. Metode statistik yang digunakan adalah analisis persentase, tabel silang dan uja. Chi - Square. Gambaran umum secara singkat adalah bahwa peserta KB sebagian besar memakai IUD, secara teratur, dengan kemauan sendiri, merasa cukup puas dan biaya tidak memberatkan. Faktor yang mempunyai hubungan dengan penggunaan pelayanan adalah biaya perjalanan dan kunjungan, jarak dan lama perjalanan. Dengan type klinik yang dikunjungi adalah pendidikan suami, pendapatan, biaya perkunjungan dan biaya keseluruhan, waktu tunggu, jarak dan lama perjalanan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa masyarakat DKI Jakarta telah siap menerima konsep KB Mandiri dengan kemampuan untuk mememenuhi kebutuhan kontrasepsi dan bersedia mencari tempat pelayanan sesuai dengan keinginan mereka. Saran untuk peneliti lain untuk dapat meneliti lebih lanjut mengenai kebutuhan peserta KB Mandiri, sedangkan bagi pemerintah dan BKKBN kiranya dapat memberi kemudahan kemudahan bagi sektor swasta untuk berperan serta."
