"This comprehensive new book deals with motion estimation for autonomous systems from a biological, algorithmic and digital perspective. An algorithm, which is based on the optical flow constraint equation, is described in detail. This algorithm fits with the motion processing model, hardware and software constraints and resolves depth-velocity ambiguity, which is critical for autonomous navigation. There is also extensive coverage on the use of this algorithm in digital hardware and describes both the initial motion processing model, the chosen hardware platforms, and the global function of the system."

"The significant motion sensor is a new sensor that promises motion detection at low power consumption. Despite that promise, no known research has explored the usage of this sensor, especially in mobile sensing research. In this study, we explore the utilization of this significant motion sensor for continuous motion and location sampling in a mobile sensing application. A location sensor is known for its expensive power consumption in retrieving the location data, and continuously sampling from it will quickly deplete a smartphone battery. We experiment with two sampling strategies that utilize this significant motion sensor to achieve low power consumption during continuous sampling. One strategy involves utilizing the sensor naively, while the other involves combining with the duty cycle. Both strategies achieve low energy consumption, but the one that combines with the duty cycle achieves lower energy consumption. By utilizing this sensor, mobile sensing research especially that samples data from location or motion sensors, will be able to achieve lower energy consumption."

"ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT
Motion is often not considered within architectural context. In fact, human within the context of architecture are always doing motion in their daily activities. This thesis discusses about how motion affect the interiority which perceived by human. Therefore, Taman Fatahillah is chosen as a case study to see whether the motion of the body can form interiority in an urban space. From this case study, it can be seen that rhythmanalsysis such as spatial rhythm, temporal rhythm, microexperience, and strangeness in visuals affect the interiority which perceived by human."

"This book offers a survey of the state of the art in the field of motion sickness. It begins by describing the historical background and the current definition of motion sickness, then discusses the prevalence among individuals, along with the physiological and psychological concomitants of the disorder. It reviews the incidence of motion sickness in numerous provocative motion environments and discusses various personal factors that appear to influence this aspect. Various characteristics of provocative motion stimuli are also described, together with the results of studies conducted in the laboratory, on motion simulators and at sea. Laboratory tests that could potentially be used to assess an individuals susceptibility to motion sickness and his or her ability to adapt to motion environments are presented in detail, together with the ways in which individuals might be trained to prevent motion sickness or more effectively cope with motion environments. In closing, the book reports on the cognitive-behavioral approach developed by the author (Dobie, 1963) as well as the various desensitization programs employed in military settings, and discusses the relative effectiveness of these methods in comparison to cognitive-behavioral counseling."

"This book contains a unique description of the nonholonomic motion of systems of rigid bodies by differential algebraic systems. Nonholonomic Motion of Rigid Mechanical Systems from a DAE Viewpoint focuses on rigid body systems subjected to kinematic constraints (constraints that depend on the velocities of the bodies, e.g., as they arise for nonholonomic motions) and discusses in detail how the equations of motion are developed. The authors show that such motions can be modeled in terms of differential algebraic equations (DAEs), provided only that the correct variables are introduced.
Several issues are investigated in depth to provide a sound and complete justification of the DAE model. These issues include the development of a generalized Gauss principle of least constraint, a study of the effect of the failure of an important full-rank condition, and a precise characterization of the state spaces. In particular, when the mentioned full-rank condition is not satisfied, this book shows how a new set of equivalent constraints can be constructed in a completely intrinsic way, where, in general, these new constraints comply with the full-rank requirement.
Several equivalent DAE formulations are discussed and analyzed thoroughly. The value of these DAE models rests upon the premise that they are more accessible than others to an effective numerical treatment. To substantiate this, a numerical algorithm is presented and numerical results for several standard problems are included to demonstrate the efficiency of this approach.
