"Multichannel Blind Deconvolution digunakan dalam restorasi citra karena pada kenyataannya statistik citra asli dan fungsi blur (point spread function) tidak selalu diketahui dengan pasti. Semakin banyak informasi tentang citra asli dan fungsi blur maka restorasi citra akan semakin baik, oleh karena itu diperlukan suatu cara yang mampu mendeteksi citra asli sebaik mungkin dan menggali sebanyak mungkin informasi fungsi blur (PSF) untuk peningkatan kualitas restorasi citra.
Metode MBR telah dikembangkan dengan menggunakan cross-correlation antara citra-citra terdegradasi dengan filter bank restorasi, yaitu melakukan restorasi langsung dari citra terdegradasi ke filter bank restorasi. Hasil restorasi pada metode ini sangat sensitif terhadap pergeseran titik piksel dari tiap citra terdegradasi, apalagi dengan adanya noise akan lebih sulit untuk mendapatkan citra berkualitas baik. Di lain pihak, metode identifikasi kanal jamak secara blind (multichannel blind identification ) sinyal satu dimensi digunakan untuk mengestimasi statistik kanal dalarn proses equalisasi dan temyata sangat efektif untuk mendapatkan sinyal asli jika statistik kanal dan citra asli tidak diketahui.
Penelitian ini menggabungkan teknik MBD dan estimasi fungsi blur (PSF) dengan metode multichannel blind identification untuk mengatasi sensitifitas metode MBR dan meningkatkan kualitas citra restorasi. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode ini menghasilkan kualitas hasil restorasi yang lebih baik dibandingkan metode MBD. Kualitas citra juga dipengaruhi oleh ukuran fungsi blur dan level noise.
Multichannel Blind Deconvolution (MBD) is used in image restoration because in reality original image statistic and blur function (point spread function) is not always known. More information about original image and blur function then image restoration will be better, for that reason we need a way to detect original image as good as possible and find blur function information (PSF) to increase image restoration quality. MBR method has been developed using cross-correlation between degraded images with restoration filter bank, which is direct restoration from degraded image to restoration filter bank. Restoration result in this method is very sensitive to pixel shifting from each degraded image, even more with the existence of noise will be difficult to get good quality image. On the other side, multichannel blind identification 1-D signal method is used to estimate channel statistic in equalization process and it's very effective to find original signal it channel statistic and original image unknown.This research combines MBD technique and blur function estimation (PSF) with multichannel blind identification method to overcome MBR method sensitivity and increase image restoration quality. The research result show that this method yields a better restoration result quality then, MBD method. The image quality is also affected by blur function size and noise level."
