"Children’s discovery of the active mind organizes empirical literature concerning the development of children’s knowledge of cognitive activities from early childhood to adolescence and presents a conceptual framework that integrates children’s introspective activities with social influences on development. Bringing together theoretical and empirical work from developmental, cognitive, and social psychology, the author argues that rather than depending upon a single source of information, developmental progress is driven by combinations of children’s conceptual knowledge of mental functioning, children’s phenomenological awareness of their own cognitive activities, and children’s social experience."

Cognitive development is a developmental aspect that emerged and thrived when the preschool years, 50 percent of the potential cognitive formed in the first 4 years of life. Cognitive development related to increasing the quality of human resource.
The objective of the study is to examine the correlation between factors to cognitive development early childhood. Cognitive development were gathered using questionnaire Kemendikbud.. Direct anthrophometry measurement was used for nutrition status data, and FFQ semiquantitative used for intake nutrient. The logistic regression used for multivariate analysis.
The results of this research showed earlychilhood with good cognitive 61.7%. Chi square analysis result intake of vitamin A, zinc intake, maternal knowledge and follow Early childhood education showed a significant correlation to cognitive development.
Conclusion the dominant factor in this study are the participation in early childhood education. Therefore it is important for parents to know about the important role of the early chilhood education for their child’s cognitive development, and parents must have control of micronutrient intake such as vitamin A, iron and zinc.

"Filling a tremendous need, this is the first graduate-level child development text written specifically for future educators. From eminent authorities, the volume provides a solid understanding of major theories of development, focusing on how each has informed research and practice in educational contexts. Topics include the impact of biology and early experiences on the developing mind; the development of academic competence and motivation; how learning is influenced by individual differences, sociocultural factors, peers, and the family environment; what educators need to know about child mental health; and more. Every chapter features a quick-reference outline, definitions of key terms, and boxes addressing special topics of interest to educators.
Special feature: Instructors considering this book for course adoption will automatically be e-mailed a test bank (in RTF format) that includes objective test items, essay questions, and case questions based on classroom scenarios"

"Recent years have seen a revolution in our knowledge of how children learn to think and speak. In this volume, leading scholars from these rapidly evolving fields of research examine the relationship between child language acquisition and cognitive development. At first sight recent advances in the two areas seem to have moved in opposing directions: the study of language acquisition has been especially concerned with diversity, explaining how children learn languages of widely different types, while the study of cognitive development has focused on uniformity, clarifying how children build on fundamental, presumably universal, concepts. This book brings these two vital strands of investigation into close dialogue, suggesting a new synthesis in which the process of language acquisition may interact with early cognitive development. It provides original empirical contributions, based on a variety of languages, populations, and ages, and theoretical discussions that cut across the disciplines of psychology, linguistics, and anthropology.

"Synopsis
Dr. Stephen Reed's COGNITION: THEORY AND APPLICATIONS, 9E, International Edition focuses on the theories that underlie cognitive phenomena as well as empirical data that establishes a traditional, information processing approach to cognitive psychology. This structure allows undergraduates to discover the direct relevance of cognitive psychology to many of their daily activities. The text incorporates unparalleled scholarship in a distinctive clear voice that allows for the emphasis of both contemporary and classical research through real-life examples and experiments. Revised and updated throughout to maintain a high degree of currency and accuracy, content reflects the ever-evolving field and is made relevant to students' lives through the inclusion of popular articles from well-known magazines and newspapers. As a result of its adherence to three criteria-the material must make an important contribution to cognitive psychology, be accessible, and be both understandable and interesting-the text is an invaluable tool in learning cognitive psychology"
