"Phalaenopsis celebensis is a rare and endemic species of Sulawesi. In this experiment flower stalk culture was chosen as a method to propagate the species, since generative propagation has not been given satisfied results. Othe advantage is that this method does not need to risk the live of the rare and preciuous cllection. Phalaenopsis celebensis was survived in MS medium supplemented with 5 ppm BA (Benzyladenine). Nodal cuttings of P. celebensis flower stalk under 20-25 C exhibit three growth pattern, either developed into shoots, flower stalk or remain dormant."

"Over one hundred species of Indonesia's native orchids had been propagated generatively at Bogor Botanic Garden during the last seven years. Germination of 100 species Vacin and Went and Hyponex media were varied in regard to their requiremnet. However, some orchids showed a tendency to germinate better in one of the medium. The result presented in this paper is designated as a guideline to put the priority setting of Indonesia's native orchid propagation program in Bogor Botanic Garden"

Besides reputed for its beauty, Paphiopedilum is recognized as rare orchids due to intensive destruction of its habitat. Propagation of Indonesian Paphiopedilum had been conducted at Bogor Botanic Garden. Strong, healthy plantlet of Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum, P. superbiens, and P. primunilum were derived from seeds sown on 0.8 Knudson-C medium. "

"Calophyllum canum Hook.f. termasuk suku Clusiaceae yang memiliki potensi sebagai antioksidan. Berdasarkan penelitian sebelumnya, fraksi n-butanol kulit batang C. canum Hook.f. memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang lebih kuat dibandingkan fraksi lainnya yaitu n-heksana dan etil asetat. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengisolasi dan mengidentifikasi senyawa yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan pada fraksi n-butanol kulit batang C. canum Hook.f. Proses isolasi meliputi tiga tahap kromatografi kolom yang dilanjutkan dengan rekristalisasi. Prinsip kerja yang dilakukan mengikuti hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan dengan metode peredaman radikal bebas DPPH (2,2-difenil-1-pikrilhidrazil) terhadap pembanding kuersetin. Kromatografi kolom I menggunakan fase diam silika gel 60 H dengan eluen etil asetat dan metanol. Kromatografi kolom II menggunakan fase diam silika gel 60 serta eluen n-heksana, etil asetat, dan metanol. Kromatografi kolom III menggunakan fase diam sephadex LH 20 dengan eluen air, metanol, dan aseton. Rekristalisasi dilakukan pada tiga fraksi hasil kromatografi kolom III sehingga didapatkan senyawa CCB I, CCB II, dan CCB III. Senyawa CCB III memiliki nilai IC50 terbesar yaitu 2,839 μg/mL dengan bentuk organoleptis berupa serbuk putih kemerahan dan melebur pada suhu 228-230oC. Berdasarkan hasil identifikasi golongan senyawa kimia, analisis spektrum UV-Tampak, dan analisis spektrum inframerah, senyawa CCB III termasuk senyawa fenol sederhana.

Calophyllum canum Hook.f. belongs to Clusiaceae family which has an antioxidant activity. Based on previous research, butanolic fraction of C. canum Hook.f. steam bark has stronger antioxidant activity than n-hexane and ethyl acetate fraction. This research isolated the chemical compound from butanolic fraction C. canum Hook.f steam bark. There were three process columns chromatography and recrystallization. The isolation principal was bioassays guidance for antioxidant activity which was tested by DPPH method with quercetin as standard. First column chromatography used silica gel 60 H as stationary phase and ethyl acetate-methanol as mobile phase. Second column chromatography used silica gel 60 as stationary phase and n-hexane-ethyl acetate-methanol as mobile phase. Third column chromatography used sephadex LH 20 as stationary phase and water-methanol-acetone as mobile phase. Recrystallization was done to purify three fractions of third column chromatography so that resulted CCB I, CCB II, and CCB III isolate. The strongest antioxidant activity is CCB III isolate with IC50 value 2,839 μg/mL with reddish white powder organoleptic and melts at 228-230oC. Based on the color of chemical reaction, spectroscopy UV-Vis, and spectroscopy IR, CCB III isolate belongs to simple phenolics compound."
