"This article is a further discussion of previous research which is a pilot project to observe patterns of cultural interaction within the Chinese community in Indonesia as a part of a project to understand the phenomenon of the multicultural society during the New Order Era. The specific target of this research is to study the socio cultural interactions within the Chinese community in Manado during the Reform Era (2000 to 2014). This research aims to study the strategic adaptation of the Chinese in Manado, by analyzing the obstacles and opportunities in their socio cultural interaction with the locals. Using data from field research and literature studies, this qualitative research applies an ethnographic approach by observing various actions in their socio cultural interactions. "

"Di era kompetisi, inovasi merupakan suatu alat untuk mencapai pertumbuhan ekonomi yang stabil dan berkelanjutan. Akan tetapi, keadaan demikian tidak terjadi di setiap negara, di mana tidak semua negara mampu menjamin aktivitas ekonominya sarat dengan inovasi. Skripsi ini menunjukan bahwa capaian inovasi suatu negara disebabkan oleh terbentuknya faktor institusional pendukung inovasi yang berasal dari sebab-sebab politik. Sebab-sebab tersebut terangkum dalam konsepsi kerapuhan sistemik, yang memahami bahwa terdapat tiga atribut: faktor eksternal/geopolitik, koalisional/domestik, dan akses sumber daya/fiskal, yang ketiganya memengaruhi pembentukan institusi pendukung inovasi. Menggunakan studi kasus inovasi di Indonesia pada era reformasi, diperlihatkan bagaimana kontinuitas kegagalan inovasi terjadi akibat tidak terpenuhinya sebab-sebab tersebut.

In the era of competition, innovation plays as an instrument to achieve a more stable and sustainable economic growth. However, such option is not taking place in every country, only some can utilize and ensure effective innovative activities in their economies. This thesis shows that state’s innovation performance is caused by the establishment of innovation-led institution which is rooted from several political causes.
