"ABSTRAK
Suatu ruang tinggal dalam perkembanganya akan selalu mengalami perubahan ruang akibat penyesuaian antara aktivitas pengguna dengan kebutuhannya. Perubahan penggunan ruang yang terjadi merupakan transformasi ruang. Skripsi ini membahas mengenai proses transformasi ruang yang terjadi dengan cara adaptasi pada pemukiman padat penduduk dan faktor yang memengaruhinya. Proses transformasi dipahami dari pendekatan teori produksi ruang Lefebvre, 1991 dengan menggunakan adaptasi sebagai metode yang digunakan untuk melihat transformasi. Studi kasus dilakukan pada ruang tinggal di pemukiman padat penduduk. Hasil yang ditemukan dalam proses transformasi ruang yang terjadi dengan cara adaptasi yakni peran waktu memengaruhi perubahan aktivitas yang terjadi. Aktivitas akan berubah ketika terdapat peran elemen dan cara yang bekerja. Waktu, aktivitas, cara dan elemen saling berhubungan dengan cara adaptasi yang akhirnya mentransformasi ruang.

ABSTRACT
A living space in its development will always changed by the user 39 s activities to adjust their needs. Space change is the transformation of space. This thesis will discuss the process of space transformation through adaptation in densely populated settlements and which factors affect it. I used theory production of space Lefebvre 1991 to understand the process of space transformation by using adaptation as the method. Case studies were held in densely populated settlements. This thesis found that time affects activity that will happen. Activity will change when there are work of elements and mechanisms. Time, activity, mechanism and elements are interconnected each other through adaptation and finally transform the space."

"Penulisan ini membahas tentang fleksibilitas sebagai strategi bertinggal di hunian yang berbasis standar occupancy. Standar yang ada secara tidak langsung mengatur kegiatan domestik di dalamnya secara kaku, karena ada berbagai persyaratan matra ruang dan luas minimumnya. Bentuk rasionalisasi ini sangat kontradiktif dengan kegiatan bertinggal yang dinamis. Karenanya, penulisan ini akan menelusuri bagaimana fleksibilitas hadir merespon standar occupancy, baik di tahap prior-occupancy maupun post-occupancy. Penulisan ini menggunakan kasus Apartemen The Smith Alam Sutera yang kemudian dianalisis melalui dua tahapan. Tahapan prior-occupancy  menjelaskan tentang peran arsitek dalam menyediakan “variasi” berbagai kemungkinan fleksibilitas dengan tujuan membuka kemungkinan kepada user untuk berkontribusi pada hasil rancangan ruang. Analisis kemudian dilanjutkan ke tahap post-occupancy. Di tahap ini analisis terbagi lagi menjadi fase mobility, evolution, dan elasticity yang melihat bagaimana perkembangan, penyesuaian, dan modifikasi initial flexibility oleh user. Hasil studi kasus menunjukkan bahwa pada realisasinya, initial flexibility yang dirancang oleh arsitek sebagai pemicu fleksibilitas tidak semuanya dimanfaatkan oleh user dalam menjalankan aktivitas domestiknya. Seringkali user menciptakan sendiri suatu strategi fleksibilitas untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dalam kesehariannya tanpa berbasis pada rancangan yang sudah ada, namun tetap ada indikasi modifikasi dan penyesuaian fleksibilitas yang terus berkembang sepanjang masa periode bertinggal.

This writing explores flexibility as a strategy of living in standardized housing. Standardization is seen as a form of rationalization that is contradictory to dynamic living activities. Therefore, this paper will explore how flexibility exists and responds to a standardized living space, both at the prior-occupancy and post-occupancy stages. This writing uses the case of The Smith Alam Sutera Apartment which is then analyzed through two stages. The prior-occupancy stage explains the role of the architect in providing "variations" of various possible flexibility with the aim of opening up possibilities for the user to contribute to the spatial design results. The analysis then proceeds to the post-occupancy stage, at this stage the analysis is further divided into mobility, evolution, and elasticity phases which focuses at how the user develops, adjusts, and modifies the initial flexibility. The results of the case study show that in reality, the initial flexibility designed by the architect as a trigger for a chance of flexibility in the future occupation is not all utilized by the users in carrying out their domestic activities. Instead,  users often create their own flexibility strategy to meet their daily needs without utilizing the prior architect’s design. However, there are still indications of modifications and flexibility adjustments that continue to develop throughout the period of residence."

"ABSTRACT
In Indonesia, the number of children who commit crimes and stay in Juvenile Prison is increasing every year. Actually, there is a major cause of children committing crimes, which are low self-concept and sufficient attention. Juvenile Prison as an institution that serves to educate criminals must be able to provide what they need, not just to confine and punish them. Open space based on research has proven to have a positive effect on the child's mental healing process (Wilson,1984). Open space is also believed to be a place where children can find identity, because during adolescence, they are incessantly seeking their identity. Therefore, the making of this thesis is to review the use of open space in Tangerangs Juvenile Prison and its effect on the childs mental recovery process.

Di Indonesia, jumlah anak yang melakukan tindakan kriminal dan menetap di penjara anak semakin meningkat tiap tahunnya. Sebenarnya, penyebab utama anak remaja melakukan tindakan kriminal adalah karena rendahnya konsep diri dan kurangnya perhatian. Penjara anak sebagai institusi yang berfungsi untuk membina anak harus bias memberikan apa yang dibutuhkan remaja, bukan hanya untuk menghukum dan mengurung mereka. Ruang terbuka berdasarkan penelitian terbukti mampu memberikan efek positif pada proses penyembuhan mental anak (Wilson,1984). Ruang terbuka juga dipercayaadalah tempat dimana remaja mencari identitas mereka, karena selama masa remaja, mereka sedang marak-maraknya mencari identitas diri. Oleh karena itu, pembuatan skripsi ini adalah untuk meninjau kegunaan ruang terbuka di Lembaga Pembinaan Khusus Anak Tangerang dan efeknya terhadap proses pemulihan mental anak. "

"ABSTRAK

ABSTRACT
As part of the society, woman who lives in urban slum areas usually did not get much attention of their existence. When we talk about their roles in their life, actually these women have three roles. These three roles are not only reproductive role or dosmectic role, when women should take care of their family and house, but also productive role or the role that makes them to work too as a primer or secondary income-earners, and the third role, the community management (Moser, 1988; 1993, dalam Miraftab, 1995).
These women in slum areas became special as their three roles should meet the economic presure and bad condition of their settelement. They should face the truth about patriarchy system in the family, which men (or their husband) is said to have domination, including women space of activities.
From the pre-research in 2012, researcher found out that women in slum areas can use even the small space in their house efficiently and effectively. But at that pre-research, researcher did not include about the women point of view of the use of that space with their husband or children. Because of that, this research is about exploring women’s life and apce of activities in slum areas with their roles and activities in spaces in slum areas from gender perspective of how the space is created and used as it related with people around the women’s life, especially their husband, when they use that space.
The case studies of this reasearch are slum areas in Bukit Duri, Tebet, South Jakarta, with focus on RT 11 and RT 15 in RW 10. Both RTs is the poorest and always got flooded when the rain season comes because of their location in Kali Ciliwung riverbank. These women who live in this settlements can show us that poor women can live their life in very bad and limited spaces in their settlement for their space of activities. The limited spaces meet a lot of needs of space then relates to the existence of negotiation that women did as the way they form and use the existing spaces for their space of activities.
The method that researcher used is ethnograpic method, especially about the relation of people and spaces. The main approach is participant-observation to know these women’s space, people who involved, activities, the objects, actions, events, aims, and feeling in each of their activities (Reeves, Kuper, dan Hodges, 2008). With that method, research can learn how these women and their family, especially their husband, use the space in their house and their society for their activities as part of space negotiation.
Research then found out that women in slum areas can balance their three roles and that’s relate to how their face life presure from their husband, children, and the condition of their house and settlement. But at the same time, all of that pressures can make them stronger and can get opportunity to have access of spaces in their house and settlement. This can show us the position of these women in family are not subordinated. Even that position can be seen in how they use the spaces for their activities as a result of space negotiation that women and their husband did. So all of the condition that being thought will make them have a hard time to do their activities is actually can help them balance their roles, which area reproductive role, productive role, and community management role."

"Perhatian pada rancangan dan aktivitas ruang luar telah menjadi topik yang banyak dibahas di kalangan peneliti maupun praktisi properti. Salah satu nilai tambah yang dapat diterapkan pada ruang luar sebuah properti adalah penambahan elemen kanopi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana penggunaan kanopi berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan nilai jual properti, kualitas visual dan fungsional sepanjang jalur, dan menjadi daya tarik bagi konsumennya sehingga dapat dikaji hal-hal yang menjadi pertimbangan pengembang dalam mengambil keputusan untuk menggunakan kanopi serta menjadikannya sebagai salah satu bagian dari strategi pemasaran. Hal ini dapat ditinjau tak hanya pada properti yang disewa, tetapi juga pada properti yang dijual.
Dalam penelitian ini, jenis properti difokuskan pada ruko yang dijual. Penelitian yang dilakukan pada sebuah kompleks ruko, yaitu CBD P ini difokuskan pada penggunaan kanopi pada jalur antar-blok ruko dan perbandingannya dnegan jalur antar-blok ruko tanpa kanopi. Pengamatan dilakukan pada bulan Maret hingga Mei 2013. Data primer diperoleh dari hasil wawancara dengan pihak pemasaran dan manajer lapangan CBD P, serta dari hasil wawancara dan pembagian kuesioner kepada para pemilik ruko di CBD P. Kuesioner dibagikan kepada 106 responden dengan pembagian responden menjadi dua grup, yaitu: responden pada ruko dengan kanopi dan responden pada ruko tanpa kanopi. Data hasil kuesioner diolah dengan analisis regresi logistik biner dan chi-kuadrat melalui program Microsoft Excel 2008 dan SPSS 20. Data sekunder diperoleh dari pihak pemasaran dan manajer lapangan CBD P meliputi: peta kompleks dan fasilitasnya, harga jual ruko, sejarah pembangunan kompleks ruko, fotofoto kondisi fisik terakhir, rencana dan informasi mengenai ruang luar kompleks CBD P.
Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa pengembangan potensi jalur-jalur tembus dalam kompleks dengan pemasangan kanopi dapat direncanakan untuk menghidupkan aktivitas sosial jalur antar-blok pada kompleks karena kanopi tak hanya berperan sebagai pemberi kenyamanan termal, tetapi juga menjadi sebuah elemen yang dapat memobilisasi manusia, memunculkan aktivitas dan ketertarikan masyarakat, serta memberikan image tertentu pada kawasan yang dilingkupinya, sebagai tempat peralihan, tempat bersantai, tempat diadakan event-event, serta wadah baru bagi sektor informal. Pemasangan kanopi juga meningkatkan nilai jual ruko. Penambahan biaya kanopi dan dekorasinya sebesar Rp 400.039,-/m2 untuk tiap ruko meningkatkan nilai jual ruko sebesar 107% hingga 177%, yaitu dari Rp 3.234.257,-/m2 hingga Rp 4.326.132,-/m2 menjadi Rp 6.510.417,-/m2. Meski ruko-ruko tersebut dijual, namun sistem pengelolaan dengan berbagai event dan kerjasama yang dilakukan oleh pengembang menjadi strategi yang menarik perhatian masyarakat. Pemanfaatan ruang luar dengan penggunaan kanopi menjadi sebuah nilai tambah dengan menerapkan strategi place-marketing karena bermanfaat menciptakan ruang publik dengan nuansa yang berbeda. Penggunaannya sebagai ruang publik komersial juga memperlihatkan citra proyek yang baik kepada masyarakat dan kesan pengembang sebagai sebuah perusahaan yang profesional.

Concern over outdoor space design and activities has continually remained a source of study in property area. Canopy has become an element that can perform as an added-value to a property outdoor. This study aims to determine how the usage of a canopy contributes to increase the property price, enhance the visual and functional quality along the shopping street, and attract the consumers. These considerations will prompt the reasons why some developers decided to utilize an outdoor area by covering it with canopy and involved it as a part of the marketing strategy. It can be examined not only on leased, but also on purchased property. In this research, the property is emphasized on purchased shophouses. The research conducted in a shophouses complex, CBD P, focused on the usage of three inter-block paths that is covered by canopies, in contrast to other inter-block paths without canopies. Observations were carried out in March until May 2013. Primary data were obtained from interviews with the marketing experts and site manager of CBD P, as well as from the interviews with and the distribution of questionnaires to the shophouses' owners. Questionnaires were distributed to 106 respondents which is divided into two groups: those who purchased shophouses with canopy and those who purchased shophouses without canopy. Data processing of the questionnaire results was performed with binary logistic regression analysis and chi-square using Microsoft Excel 2008 and SPSS 20. Secondary data were obtained from the marketing data collection and site manager of CBD P which include: a map of the complex and its facilities, a concise explanation of its development history, the shophouses sales price, photos of the CBD P, and the summary of future development plans.
The results of this study revealed that the shophouses inter-block paths enhanced by translucent canopies installation can bring out some new social activities because the canopy can not only give a better thermal comfort, but also can mobilize people, enhance public interests and activies, provide a certain image and atmosphere in the area the canopy enclose, act as a place of transition and for holding events, as well as give opportunity to the informal sector to play a complementary role in the area. The research revealed that the canopy installation influences the shophouses sale price and it's still saleable to the prospective buyers. The incremental cost for the canopy and its decoration of Rp 400.039,-/m2 for every shophouse increases the developer's profit by 107% to 177%, from Rp 3.234.257,-/m2 up to Rp 4.326.132,-/m2 to Rp 6.510.417.-/m2. Even though the shophouses were sold, but the good management system with various events and partnerships conducted by the developer become valuable attributes to attract public attention. The utilization of outdoor space by covering it with canopy become an addedvalue by applying place-marketing strategy as it created an altered atmosphere to the public space. Its usage as a commercial public space also shows a good development image to the public and the developer's image as a professional company."

Hal ini yang disebutkan Bollnow sebagai keadaan kebersamaan manusia yang menciptakan intimasi sebagai salah satu syarat keruangan dari homeliness. Akan tetap keadaan bersama manusia ini juga menimbulkan persaingan antara manusia. Fenomena keberadaan bersama manusia ini dianalogikan sebagai sphere oleh Sloterdijk. Mekanisme yang terjadi dalam keadaan bersama ini adalah imitasi. Ini mengindikasikan imitasi dapat menjelaskan mekanisme yang terjadi dalam keadaan keberadaan bersama manusia. Untuk melihat mekanisme imitasi ini maka penulis melihat imitasi sebagai respon manusia terhadap lingkungan sehingga penulis dapat melihat imitasi sebagai mekanisme yang lebih meruang yaitu perilaku manusia terhadap lingkungan yang disebut teritori
ABSTRACT The number of people is increasing and limited space for activities leads an increased number of possibilities fellow human beings approaching in their activity. It is mentioned by Bollnow as the state of human togetherness that creates intimacy as one of the requirements of the spatial homeliness. However situation with human also arises the competition between humans. The phenomenon of human co existence is analogous to a sphere by Sloterdijk. The mechanisms that occur in the co existence is imitation. This indicates that imitation can be explained as the mechanisms that occur in the human co existence. To observe imitation mechanism, the author sees imitation as a human response to the environment so that the author can observe imitation as a mechanism within spatial perspective namely human behavior towards the environment which is called territories."

Dengan merespon terhadap rancangan tata kota yang baru di kawasan Pasar Baru, maka bangunan ini memiliki potensi yang besar untuk menunjukan kualitas hidup yang sangat baik. Khususnya terhadap bangunan hunian, lokasi tapak memiliki potensi terhadap keterjangkauan taman publik, Pasar Baru, sekolah serta aksesibilitas. Atas dasar respon terhadap hal-hal tersebut maka bangunan ini akan menunjang kebutuhan tempat tinggal dan berupaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup yang baik bagi pengguna.

This apartment building is a part for the new redesigned masterplan of Pasar Baru. The new redesigned masterplan is an effort for the renewal of the well known Pasar Baru role as a center for culinary and retail shops activities in the past life of Jakarta. Pasar Baru has its strong value of memorabilia and is well known for its culture for its shared business and living spaces community. In accordance with the redesigned masterplan of Pasar Baru, this building has the potential to support the well-being for its users. Specifically for living spaces, the site has a potential for its accessibilities to its near public parks, Pasar Baru, schools, and infrastructures. In response to those fundamental factors, this building supports the needs for living spaces and increasing the well-being for its users and its surroundings."

Rata-rata masyarakat sering mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kesehatan mereka dalam lingkungan sekitarnya. Respon terhadap kondisi lingkungan sekitar yang diwujudkan melalui gedung tersebut sangatlah penting. Dengan demikian, kinerja arsitektur yang cukup sangat diperlukan sebagai dasar perencanaan, yang dapat melindungi kesehatan publik. Berdasarkan permasalahan di daerah di Perth, pembangunan bangunan mixed-use disini terinspirasi oleh gaya hidup yang sehat, dengan menghasilkan aspek lingkungan yang sehat ke dalam arsitektur. Sebuah konsep bangunan yang memicu kesehatan adalah sebuah pendekatan dimana unsur-unsur alam membantu merancang kegiatan di dalamnya, dengan menyediakan ruangan terbuka, yang dapat memicu interaksi.

In this constant changing environment, architecture and health are strongly interrelated which affect the environment. People often consider factors that affect their health within their surroundings. It is important that proper response to the local environment condition is addressed thoroughly through the building itself. Thus, a considerable architecture performance is required as the base of planning which protect the public?s health. Based on the problems in a specific suburb in Perth, the idea of healthy living challenges the creation of mixed-use building development, which generate the aspects of healthy environment into architecture. A healthy living building is an approach where activities are mainly designed with the help of natural elements and providing as much open spaces as possible, which catalyzes maximum social interaction.

"Relaksasi dan interaksi sosial merupakan aktivitas ketiga yang berperan sebagai salah satu kebutuhan fundamental manusia untuk mencapai hidup yang seimbang. Dalam lingkungan hidup manusia dibutuhkan ruang untuk memenuhi aktivitas ketiga tersebut. Ruang untuk memenuhi aktivitas ketiga berupa domain publik yang terpisah secara jelas dari domain domestik dan domain produktif. Hal ini membuat manusia membutuhkan ruang publik sebagai fasilitas aktivitas ketiga mereka. Ruang publik pun menjadi bagian dari salah satu kebutuhan fundamental manusia. Dari sini, aktivitas ketiga dan ruang publik membentuk kebutuhan ketiga manusia. Namun, pada kenyataannya masih terdapat lingkungan tinggal manusia yang tidak memiliki ruang publik. Dalam kondisi tersebut manusia masih memiliki tuntutan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan ketiga, namun, mereka dihadapi dengan persoalan absensi ruang publik. Berdasarkan situasi tersebut, skripsi ini menganalisis area permukiman Kampung Setu, Bintara, Bekasi Barat. Lingkungan tersebut dihadapi dengan absensi ruang publik yang membuat kebutuhan ketiga penduduk terancam. Dari hasil observasi dan analisis ditemukan bahwa dalam menghadapi isu absensi ruang publik masyarakat akan berusaha untuk mencari ruang dengan karakter yang dimiliki ruang publik secara sadar maupun tidak sadar. Kemudian mereka akan ‘membentuk’ ruang publik mereka sendiri dengan cara beradaptasi dalam melakukan aktivitas ketiga di ruang pengganti tersebut. Hal ini memperlihatkan bagaimana kebutuhan ketiga, yaitu ruang publik dan aktivitas ketiga, telah menjadi bagian fundamental hidup manusia. Meskipun dihadapi dengan isu absensi ruang publik, manusia dengan berbagai cara akan berusaha untuk tetap memenuhi kebutuhan ketiga mereka.

The third activity are relaxation and social interaction that play a role as one of the human’s fundamental needs to reach a balance life. Human’s living environment needs a space that will accommodate the third activity. The space to satisfy the third activity are in the form of public domain that has a clear boundary from the domestic domain and the productive domain. This make public space into a facility for the human’s third activity and it becomes a part of the human’s fundamental needs. From here, the third activity and the public space are establishing the human’s third need. Nevertheless, in reality there are still exist a living environment that doesn’t have public space. In that condition, human still has the demand of the third need, but they face the absence of public space. Based on the said situation, this thesis analyzes a neighborhood called Kampung Setu in Bintara, West Bekasi. That neighborhood faces the absence of public space issue that endanger the inhabitant’s third need. The results from observations and analysis shows that in dealing with the issue of public space absenteeism, the community will try to find a space that has the character of the public space, consciously or unconsciously. Then, they will ‘form’ their own public space by adapt themselves in doing third activity at those substitute space. This shows how the third need, namely public space and the third activity, has become a fundamental part of human life. Even though they are faced with the issue of public space absenteeism, people will in any various way try to fulfill their third need."

"Tulisan ini membahas proses sebuah in-between space yang awalnya dianggap sebagai ruang sisa dapat beralih sebagai sebuah place yang memiliki nilai di dalamnya. Tujuan dari penulisan ini untuk memahami bahwa hadirnya manusia dan kualitas ruang fisik memengaruhi transformasi tersebut. In-between space sebagai ruang sisa sendiri merupakan ruang yang terbentuk secara tidak terencana dan berada diantara elemen urban lain. Uniknya, ruang tersebut tetap memungkinkan beragam aktivitas hadir. Kehadiran makna dan sense of place lah yang memicu proses place-making. Dalam memahami konsep transformasi in-between space, skripsi ini menggunakan kasus Kolong Jembatan Slipi yang dianalisis berdasarkan tiga aspek: 1) identifikasi kualitas fisik dan ruang in-between space sebagai ruang sisa; 2) proses kehadiran aktivitas manusia di dalam in-between space; 3) sense of place yang hadir melalui beragam aktivitas. Melalui analisis tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kualitas ruang in-between space dan hadirnya aktivitas manusia memicu perubahan in-between space dari ruang sisa menjadi sebuah place.

This paper discusses about an in-between space that was originally considered as a lost space can turn into a place that has meaning and value in it. The purpose of this paper is to understand that the presence of humans and the quality of physical space influence the transformation. In-between space as lost space is a space that is formed unplanned and is located between other urban elements. These activities are influenced by the characteristics of the physical space between spaces as lost space and also by different human perceptions. In understanding the concept of transformation of the in-between space, this paper uses the case of Kolong Jembatan Slipi, which determines based on three aspects: 1) identification of the physical quality of the in-between space as lost space; 2) the process of the presence of human activities in the in-between space; 3) the emergence of meaning and a sense of place from the connection between human activity and the physical space between spaces. So, it can be said that this paper wants to show that the quality of the in-between space and the presence of human activity triggers the change in the in-between space from as lost space to a place."
