"Stereotipe Gender adalah perilaku atau kebiasaan dari 'tipe' laki-laki atau 'tipe' perempuan. Stereotipe Gender sendiri sering digambarkan dalam cara yang berbeda-beda di dalam film, beberapa bisa ditoleransi dan beberapa juga tidak. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk membahas bagaimana ide dari stereotipe gender membangun karakter dan emosi di dalam film berjudul Inside Out 2015 . Meskipun banyak ahli yang sudah membahas film ini dari sisi psikoanalisis, tidak banyak yang menganalisa film ini dari sisi stereotipe gender pada karakternya. Artikel ini mempunyai harapan agar pembacanya bisa melihat bahwa banyak elemen-elemen yang bisa dibuktikan kebenarannya bahwa stereotipe gender membangun karakter di dalam kehidupan nyata, dan emosi di dalam kepala para karakter-karakternya

Gender stereotype is an attitudes or behaviors of a 'typical' man or a 'typical' woman. Gender stereotype itself often depicted in movies in such different ways, some are tolerable and some are not. This article aims to discuss about how the idea of gender stereotype construct the characters and emotions in a film titled Inside Out 2015 Although there a lot of scholars who have discussed the movie from psychoanalytical point of view, not many have analyzed the movie based on the gender stereotype on the characters. This article expects to inform the reader that there are many elements that can be analyzed to prove that gender stereotype constructs the characters in the real life, and the emotions inside the characters' head."

"Di media, tokoh pria Asia-Amerika sering digambarkan dengan berbagai macam stereotipe. Mereka biasanya digambarkan sebagai orang yang pendek, tidak menarik, dan penurut. Namun, di era ini, terdapat beberapa perubahan dalam penggambaran tokoh pria Asia-Amerika. Melalui pembahasan terhadap dua serial televisi, Two Broke Girls 2011 dan Young Hungry 2014 , makalah ini menyoroti perbedaan-perbedaan dalam penggambaran tokoh pria Asia-Amerika. Dengan menggunakan teori representasi oleh Stuart Hall 2013 dan juga teori maskulinitas oleh Raewyn Connell 1995 , makalah ini berfokus pada analisa perbedaan masing-masing karakter melalui penampilan fisik mereka, pengetahuan mereka tentang budaya Amerika, interaksi mereka dengan karakter-karakter lainnya, serta bagaimana nilai-nilai maskulinitas tradisional dikebiri dalam karakter mereka. Dengan menganalisis semua aspek ini, penelitian ini akan menyoroti bagaimana karakter-karakter pria Asia-Amerika dari masing-masing serial televisi menggambarkan stereotipe tersebut. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa kedua karakter, Han Lee dan Elliot Park, sama-sama tidak dilukiskan sebagai karakter yang memiliki sifat maskulin tradisional, tetapi dengan cara yang berbeda. Elliot Park, dari Young Hungry, dilukiskan sebagai seorang gay. Sedangkan, Han Lee, dari Two Broke Girls dilukiskan sebagai seorang yang sangat berusaha untuk membaur dan diterima oleh karakter-karakter lainnya.

In the media, Asian American men have been portrayed with many different stereotypes. They are usually depicted as short, not attractive, and submissive. However, in this era, there are some changes in the portrayal of Asian Americans. Examining two television series, titled Two Broke Girls 2011 and Young Hungry 2014 , this paper spotlights the differences in the depiction of Asian American men. Using Stuart Hall rsquo;s 2013 theory of representation and also Raewyn Connell rsquo;s 1995 theory of masculinities, this paper will focus on analysing the differences of each character through their physical appearances, their knowledge about American culture, their interaction with other characters, and how they are being emasculated. By analysing all these aspects, this writing highlight how Asian American male characters from each television series portray the stereotype. The result shows that the two characters, Han Lee and Elliot Park, are being emasculated, but in a different way. Elliot Park, from Young Hungry, is being emasculated by being a gay. Whereas, Han Lee, from Two Broke Girls is being emasculated because he tries so hard to blend in and to be accepted by the other characters. "

"The Little Prince 2005 , film animasi anak yang diadaptasi dari novel Perancis dengan judul yang sama yang ditulis oleh Antoine de Saint-Exup ry, menceritakan tentang hubungan Little Girl dengan ibu tunggalnya, Mother, dan tetangganya yang bijaksana, Aviator. Film ini dapat dijadikan korpus analisis untuk mengeksplor stereotip gender dalam studi gender, khususnya dalam stereotip terhadap ibu dalam pandangan patriarki. Walaupun beberapa studi tentang pencarian jati diri dan identitas dalam novel dan ulasan-ulasan dalam film adaptasinya sudah dibuat, studi terhadap isu gender belum pernah dilakukan. Dengan menggunakan ide dari De Beauvoir tentang ibu dalam pandangan patriarki dan stereotip umum terhadap ibu oleh Green, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelusuri bagaimana penokohan dari Mother mengikuti stereotip gender terhadap ibu dalam pandangan patriarki dari adaptasi film ini.

The Little Prince 2015 , a children animated film adapted from the French novel with the same name written by Antoine de Saint-Exup ry, talks about the Little Girl rsquo;s relationship with her single mother, the Mother, and her wise neighbor, the Aviator. This film could be taken as a corpus of analysis to explore gender stereotype in gender studies, specifically on stereotypes towards motherhood in patriarchal view. While several studies on identity and self-discovery on the novel and film reviews on the film adaptation have been conducted, studies on gender issues have not been found. By using De Beauvoir rsquo;s idea of motherhood in patriarchy and Green rsquo;s general stereotypes toward the mother, this paper intends to discover how characterization of the Mother follows the gender stereotype of motherhood in patriarchy from the film adaptation. "

"Pada masa Disney Renaissance, Disney telah mencoba untuk mendobrak stereotip gender yang telah melekat dengan mereka selama ini. Walaupun begitu, tidak dapat dipungkiri stereotip gender masih terpatri karena masyarakat telah diajarkan mengenai stereotip gender dari media sejak kecil. Hal ini juga terlihat pada dua film animasi adaptasi Disney The Little Mermaid (1989) dan Tangled (2010). Tulisan ini menganalisa berbagai streotip gender yang tersembunyi dalam kedua film tersebut dan bagaimana stereotip-stereotip tersebut tetap terlihat walaupun telah berusaha disembunyikan. Ada dua hal yang akan dianalisa dalam tulisan ini. Yang pertama penggambaran good woman dan bad woman menyimbolkan konsep beauty klasik. Yang kedua, penggambaran laki-laki, kejadian-kejadian di film serta lagu tetap memiliki kebiasan yang sama seperti dahulu. Hasil analisa film ini adalah film-film Disney tetap mengandung stereotip gender walaupun telah berusaha disembunyikan.

During the era of Disney Renaissance, Disney has been trying to break the gender stereotypes that have been closely related to them. However, it is undeniable that gender stereotypes are still imprinted because people have been fed by gender stereotypes from the show since they are young. It is also shown in two Disney adaptation animation movies titled The Little Mermaid (1989) and Tangled (2010). This writing examines various evidences of gender stereotypes that are hidden in both movies and how they are still seen although the creators have kept them hidden. There are two major points that will be examined in this paper. First, the depiction of good woman and bad woman is symbolizing the classical beauty concept. Second is the depiction of man, the act, and the song is still containing the same ‘rule’ as previous time. This paper is concluded by a statement that Disney’s movies are still containing gender stereotypes although they have been tried to be hidden."

"ABSTRAKDalam sebagian besar film Hollywood dengan genre action-spionase spy , protagonis utama dimainkan oleh seorang agen rahasia laki-laki, sementara karakter perempuan dimainkan sebagai ldquo;kaki tangan rdquo; dari agen rahasia tersebut. Namun, film Spy 2015 menantang stereotip dan peran jender yang dikaitkan dalam film action-spionase pada umumnya dengan memerankan wanita sebagai protagonis agen rahasia utama dan menggambarkan karater laki-laki kebalikan dari stereotip agen rahasia. Penelitian ini berfokus pada bagaimana pergeseran stereotip dan peran jender sebagai agen rahasia tersebut digambarkan dalam film Spy. Analisis tekstual digunakan untuk menyelidiki pergeseran dan pengaruhnya, dan kerangka teoritis yang digunakan adalah Women Existence in Espionage Movies oleh Amalina 2015 dan The Evolution of Female Gender Roles oleh Bayard 2015 . Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa ada perubahan yang signifikan antara karakterisasi tokoh perempuan dan laki-laki sebagai agen rahasia.

ABSTRACTAbstractIn most of Hollywood action espionage movies, the main protagonists are male secret agents, while female characters play the role of the secret agents rsquo sidekicks. However, Spy 2015 challenges the stereotypes and the attributed gender roles in action espionage movies by having female protagonist as the lead secret agent and depicting the male characters the opposite of secret agent stereotypes. This research focuses on how the shift of stereotypes and gender role of secret agents are portrayed in Spy. Textual analysis is used to investigate the shifts and its effects, and the theoretical frameworks used are Women Existence in Espionage Movies by Amalina 2015 and The Evolution of Female Gender Roles by Bayard 2015 . "ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bermula dari keprihatinan penulis terhadap representasi kaum minoritas (LGBT) di dalam media massa. Kelompok minor ini sering direpresentasikan dengan menyimpang dan menyudutkan. Namun, perkembangan media massa memunculkan kemungkinan baru untuk melakukan suara perlawanan, yakni dengan film pinggiran. Penelitian ini berfokus untuk melihat bagaimana film pinggiran dipergunakan untuk mejadi media alternatif untuk menjadi wadah suara resistensi masyarakat, baik oleh kaum gay maupun heteroseksual. Penulis akan melihat permasalahn ini dengan menggunakan perspektif dari Michel Foucault tentang praktik kuasa serta identitas gender dari Judith Butler. Dengan menggunakan metode Semiotika Film dari Christian Metz dalam model analisis semiotika dari Barthes, penulis menarik kesimpulan bahwa film pinggiran dengan segala karakteristiknya dapat menjadi media resistensi dari kaum gay untuk menyuarakan representasi yang lebih baik dan menyuarakan kebenaran yang mereka yakini. Kaum gay didapati lebih eksploratif dan mampu menggambarkan banyak hal, sedangkan kaum hetero merepresentasikan gay lebih secara hitam putih dan menyampaikan pemikirannya dalam dialog yang bersifat lebih kaku, kurang eksploratif.

ABSTRAKThis research begins with the writer’s concern about minority (LGBT) representation in the mass media. This minor group often represented falsely and tend to be cornering. On other hand, the mass media provide new medium to express the resisting voice from the minor by using the independent film. This research id focusing to identify the usage of the independent film to be an alternative to express the resisting voice, both from gay or heterosexual film maker. By using Foucault’s view on power practice and the gender identity by Judith Butler, I hope I could draw a conclusion on gender trouble and power practice in the related film. The semiotics of film by Christian Metz will be combined by Roland Barthes’ model of semiotics. I conclude that independent film is a great medium to express a resisting utterance to established normativity.In my conclusion, I am finding that the gay film maker is having more audacity to explore a gay character, both from their life story and the way of thinking. On other hand, the heterosexual represent their gay character in way more rigid way, black and white and more likely using the plain dialogue, not really explorative."

"Tulisan ini akan membahas mengenai stereotip yang terdapat dalam film Qu rsquo;est-ce qu rsquo;on a fait au bon dieu dan pengaruhnya terhadap perilaku tokoh yang berasal dari golongan masyarakat yang berbeda-beda. Film ini bercerita mengenai keluarga Prancis yang mencoba untuk menerima pernikahan putri-putrinya dengan lelaki dari ras dan etnis yang berbeda. Film ini akan dianalisis melalui unsur sinematografis dan naratifnya. Hasil analisis akan menemukan pengaruh stereotip terhadap perilaku tokoh dan stereotip apa yang mendominasi dan penyelesainnya dalam film ini.

This movie tells the story of a French family trying to accept their daughters marriages to men from different racial and ethnical backgrounds. This movie will be analyzed through its cinematographic and narative aspects. Film ini menceritakan perjalanan seorang anak perempuan Korea yang menyelamatkan peliharaannya yang berupa babi buatan dari penciptanya, Mirando Corp. Film ini memilih pemain dari berbagai latar belakang ras, baik orang kulit putih maupun orang kulit berwarna people of color . Meskipun film ini memiliki pemain dan karakter dari latar belakang ras yang beragam, stereotip tersembunyi dan distribusi kekuasaan yang tidak merata dapat ditemui di film ini. Melalui konsep stereotip dan relasi kuasa, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis stereotip rasial tersembunyi dan relasi kuasa yang tidak setara dengan melihat adegan dan dialog film.

ABSTRACTOkja 2017 is a science fiction film produced by Netflix and directed by a Korean director, Bong Joonho. It tells the journey of a young Korean girl rescuing her artificial pet pig from its creator, Mirando Corp. The movie casts people from various racial backgrounds as the characters mdash both white people and people of color. Despite casting people and characters from different racial backgrounds, covert stereotypes and inequitable power distribution exist throughout the movie. Through the concept of stereotyping and power relation, this paper aims to analyze the hidden racial stereotypes and unequal power distribution within the film by looking at the scenes and the dialogues."

"ABSTRAKWa Halla rsquo; La Wayn? merupakan sebuah film yang berkisah tentang kehidupan sebuah desa yang terisolir. Desa tersebut dihuni oleh dua kelompok agama, yaitu Muslim dan Kristen. Kaum perempuan di dalamnya berusaha untuk melindungi desa dari timbulnya peperangan antaragama yang terjadi di luar desa. Film ini menarik untuk diteliti karena adanya karakter perempuan yang lebih dominan dalam menyelesaikan konflik. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menjawab dan menjelaskan seperti apa karakter perempuan dinarasikan dalam film, serta mengetahui bagaimana narasi cerita yang dibangun. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti akan menganalisis struktur narasi, cerita, alur, sudut pandang serta fungsi dan karakter pada film yang disutradarai oleh Nadine Labaki ini. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa representasi perempuan yang ditampilkan pada film ini tidak meninggalkan keseluruhan stereotipe perempuan pada umumnya. Di sisi lain, perempuan mampu melakukan sesuatu yang lebih besar daripada stereotipe pada umumnya.

ABSTRACTWa Halla rsquo La Wayn is a movie that tells about the life of an isolated vilage. The village is inhabited by two religious groups, they are Muslim and Christian groups. The women in it are trying to protect the village from the incident of interfaith warfare that happened outside the village. This film is interesting to be researched because the female characters in it are more dominant to solve the conflict. The purpose of this research is to answer and explain what kind of female characters narrated in the film, also to know how narrative story is built. The methodology used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Researcher will analyze the structure of narrative, story, plot, point of view, also the functions and characters in the film which was directed by Nadine Labaki. The results of the research can be concluded that the female representation shown in this film does not leave the whole stereotype of women in general. On the other side, the women able to do something bigger than the stereotype in general."
