"This work is a synchronic and diachronic study of phonological diversity in the Malay language of Jakarta, the capital of the Republic of Indonesia. Jakarta Malay is the native language of the majority of the inhabitants of Jakarta, whose population of over five million persons makes it the largest city in Indonesia and in Southeast Asia. Jakarta Malay is also acquired as a second language by many of the migrants who come to the metropolis from throughout Indonesia, and generally functions as the lingua franca of everyday discourse in the city. decade ago, a scholar writing about Jakarta began his discussion with this comment (Castles 1967:153): In the spate of studies about Indonesia since Independence, the phenomenon of Jakarta has been much noted but little investigated. "ABSTRAKMekanisme yang mendasari pengaruh stres akut kepada dimensi dari empati belum dipahami secara baik. Satu kemungkinan mekanisme adalah melalui kemampuan inhibisi. Menggunakan metode eksperimental, penelitian kali ini berusaha untuk mengkaji hubungan antara stres akut, yang dimunculkan menggunakan Paced Auditory Serial Addition Task-Computerized PASAT-C, kemampuan inhibisi, yang diukur menggunakan Stop Signal Task SST, dan dimensi dari empati yang diukur menggunakan Interpersonal Reactivity Index IRI . Hasil menunjukan bahwa stres akut dapat memprediksikan secara negatif dimensi fantasy dan perspective taking, dan secara positif dimensi empathic concern dan personal distress dari empati. Selain itu ditemukan bahwa kemampuan inhibisi dapat memprediksi secara positif empati kognitif. Stres akut tidak dapat memprediksi kemampuan inhibisi. Implikasi dari hasil studi didiskusikan.

ABSTRACTThe mechanisms by which acute stress affect dimensions of empathy are not fully understood. One potential mechanism is through response inhibition. Using experimental design, present study was conducted to explore the relationships between acute stress manipulated using Paced Auditory Serial Addition Task, response inhibition measured using stop signal task, and dimensions of empathy measured using Interpersonal Reactivity Index . Results suggest that acute stress significantly predict lower cognitive empathy, fantasy and perspective taking, and higher affective empathy, empathic concern and personal distress, while better response inhibition significantly predict higher cognitive empathy. Response inhibition were not affected by acute stress. Potential implications of the study were discussed."
