Kydd, Andrew H., 1963-
"Written for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, this is the first textbook on international relations theory to take a specifically game theoretic approach to the subject, and provide the material needed for students to understand the subject thoroughly, from its basic foundations to more complex models. International relations theory is presented and analysed using simple games, which allow students to grasp the concepts and mechanisms involved with the rationalist approach without the distraction of complicated math. Chapter exercises reinforce key concepts and guide students to extend the models discussed. Drawing examples from international security, international political economy and environmental negotiations, this introductory textbook examines a broad array of topics in international relations courses, including state preferences, normal form games, bargaining, uncertainty and communication, multilateral cooperation and the impact of domestic politics"-"

"A thorough introduction to a burgeoning interdisciplinary field, with an emphasis on foundational material.
Multiagent systems combine multiple autonomous entities, each having diverging interests or different information. This overview of the field offers a computer science perspective, but also draws on ideas from game theory, economics, operations research, logic, philosophy and linguistics. It will serve as a reference for researchers in each of these fields, and be used as a text for advanced undergraduate or graduate courses. The authors emphasize foundations to create a broad and rigorous treatment of their subject, with thorough presentations of distributed problem solving, game theory, multiagent communication and learning, social choice, mechanism design, auctions, cooperative game theory, and modal logics of knowledge and belief. For each topic, basic concepts are introduced, examples are given, proofs of key results are offered, and algorithmic considerations are examined. An appendix covers background material in probability theory, classical logic, Markov decision processes and mathematical programming."

"This book is concerned with the optimization problem of maximizing the number of spanning trees of a multigraph. Since a spanning tree is a minimally connected subgraph, graphs and multigraphs having more of these are, in some sense, immune to disconnection by edge failure. We employ a matrix-theoretic approach to the calculation of the number of spanning trees. The authors envision this as a research aid that is of particular interest to graduate students or advanced undergraduate students and researchers in the area of network reliability theory. This would encompass graph theorists of all stripes, including mathematicians, computer scientists, electrical and computer engineers, and operations researchers.--"

"This book constitutes the proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Information Theoretic Security, ICITS 2012, held in Montreal, Canada, in August 2012. The 11 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 46 submissions. In addition 11 papers were selected for the workshop track, abstracts of 7 of these contributions are also included in this book. Topics of interest ar, physical layer security, multiparty computations, codes, lattices and cryptography, authentication codes, randomness extraction, cryptography from noisy channels, wiretap channels, bounded-storage models, information-theoretic reductions, quantum cryptography, quantum information theory, nonlocality and nonsignaling, key and message rates, secret sharing, physical models and assumptions, network coding security, adversarial channel models, information-theoretic tools in computational settings, implementation challenges, and biometric security."
