"The purpose of this volume is to shape conceptual tools to understand the impact of new information and communication technologies (ICTs) on the organization of universities. Traditional research-based universities, the most typical representatives of the higher education system, find themselves challenged by the speed and the wide range of technical innovations, but also by a vast array of implicit assumptions and explicit promises associated with the distribution of digital media.The author observes that as universities increasingly use digital media (computers and the Internet) to accomplish their tasks, a transformation takes place in an evolutionary rather than in a revolutionary way. Using the University of Klagenfurt as an in-depth case study, he explores such dynamic issues as how digital media affect the practice of research, the preservation and dissemination of knowledge (for example, through publishing and archiving), and delivery of education at universities. More broadly, he considers issues of organizational culture and design, administration, and leadership as universities integrate digital technologies into all aspects of their operations."

"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini mengkaji kebijakan pendidikan tinggi Jepang dalam inisiatif internasionalisasi. Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan landasan teori internasionalisasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa studi literatur dengan metode analisis deskriptif. Proses internasionalisasi di dalam pendidikan tinggi terus berkembang pesat karena institusi terus bergerak melalui perekrutan mahasiswa asing untuk mengembangkan agenda internasionalisasi yang matang. Penulis berargumen bahwa upaya yang di lakukan Pemerintah Jepang melalui MEXT adalah salah satu insiatif internasionalisasi. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa melalui program MEXT yang dinamakan Super Global Universities dapat meningkatkan daya saing universitas Jepang di kancah global. Argumentasi ini diperkuat dengan penemuan bahwa kriteria-kriteria yang ditentukan dalam program ini bahwa internasionalisasi Universitas yang dilakukan melalui reformasi pendidikan dan tata kelola administrasi menjadi penguat keberhasilan dari tujuan program ini.

ABSTRACTThis study examines Japan 39 s higher education policy in internationalization initiatives. The analysis was conducted using internationalization higher education theory. This study uses qualitative method with literature study through descriptive analysis. The process of internationalization in higher education continues to grow rapidly as institutions continue to move by equating international strategy through the recruitment of foreign students to develop a mature internationalization agenda. Author argues that the efforts undertaken by the Japanese government through MEXT is one of internationalization initiative. This study found that through the MEXT program called ldquo Super Global Universities rdquo it can improve the competitiveness of Japanese universities in the global chaotic. This argument is reinforced by the discovery of the criteria specified in this program such as internationalization, educational reform and governance become a boost to the success of program 39 s objectives."
