"ABSTRAKWe use a generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity dummy approach to analyze the influence of calendar anomalies on conditional daily returns and risk for the stock markets of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa from 1996 to 2018. Month-of-the-year, turn-of-the-month, day-of-the-week, and holiday effects are investigated. The most striking day-of-the-week effect is found for Tuesdays. The turn-of-the-month effect is validated, while, interestingly, we find no evidence of a January effect. A general holiday effect is not documented, but the Indian market shows a significant pre- and post-holiday effect, the Chinese market is anomalous before public holidays, and the South African market is affected only after holidays."

"despite arguments that decentralization creates successful rural development, studies in many countries find that the adoption of decentralization does not always make rural development more effective. while decentralization theoretically offers substantial opportunities for successful rural development, all too often the implementation is hampered by various challenges. this paper deals with this challenging issue, which is to identify the potentialities and challenges brought by decentralization for rural development. through literature review, this paper suggest countries applying decentralization to pay attention on several main factors consisting of formulation of local budget, social capital, local capacity, and community participation."

"Two studies focused on perceived ingroup and outgroup variability in children as a function of status. In the first study, 7- and 9-year-old White and Black children distributed White and Black faces along the levels of several dimensions. White children percieved more ingroup than outgroup variability, whereas Black children percieved more outgroup than ingroup variability. In addition, White children favored their ingroup, whereas Black children did not. In a second study, 7- and 9-year-old boys and girls distributed ingroup and outgroup faces along the levels of several dinensions. As expected, boys displayed outgroup homogeneity and girls did not. The consequences of these findings are discussed. "
