"Ayah mempunyai peranan yang penting dan strategis yang menentukan keberhasilan ibu dalam proses menyusui. Ayah bisa menjadi pihak yang mendukung keberhasilan ibu menyusui atau justru malah menjadi faktor yang menghambat dan mencegah pemberian ASI. Dukungan emosional yang diberikan oleh ayah dapat secara langsung mempengaruhi keputusan ibu untuk menyusui. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran ayah tentang ASI dan menyusui serta meningkatkan perilaku ayah dalam memberikan dukungan emosional kepada pasangannya yang sedang dalam periode menyusui Desain penelitian menggunakan one group pre test ndash post test. Berdasarkan hasil analisis statistik diketahui bahwa setelah mengikuti workshop Appreciative Inquiry subyek penelitian lebih meningkat pengetahuannya tentang ASI dan menyusui. Meskipun pengetahuan subyek penelitian lebih meningkat namun hasil analisis statistik menunjukan tidak ada pengaruh workshop Appreciative Inquiry terhadap peningkatan skor dukungan emosional subyek penelitian kepada pasangannya yang menyusui.

Fathers play an important and strategic role in determining the success of the mothers in the breastfeeding process. The father can be the one who supports breastfeeding mothers or even becomes the factors that inhibits and prevents breastfeeding process. Emotional support given by the father can be directly influence the mother s decision to breastfeed. This study aims to increase the father s knowledge and awareness about breastmilk and breastfeeding and to enhance the father s behavior in providing emotional support for breasfeeding mothers. The research design uses one group pre test post test.

Based on the post test result the finding shows that the score of knowledge about breastmilk and breastfeeding is increased after the participants attending the Appreciative Inquiry workshop. Although the knowledge of the participant is increased the post test result indicates that there is no significant difference in providing emotional support after the participants attending the Appreciative Inquiry workshop."
