"Tesis ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap ragam bentuk act of dwelling dari aktivitas bertinggal dan bermukim yang diwujudkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari masyarakat permukiman pesisir di wilayah Gudang Lelang, yang menunjukkan mekanisme dalam merespon kerentanan serta upaya dalam mempertahankan keamanan bermukimnya.  Perspektif ekofeminisme digunakan untuk mampu melihat mekanisme tersebut secara lebih holistik, di mana isu sosial, ekonomi, politik, dan ekologi menjadi satu kesatuan yang utuh, termasuk dalam menelaah relasi kelas, gender dan kuasa yang terjadi dalam kehidupan masyarakat pesisir yang fluktuatif. Hasil penelitian bertujuan untuk mendorong paradigma pembangunan khususnya terhadap perencanaan di ruang pesisir dan permukiman informal dengan perspektif yang lebih terbuka untuk mencapai berkelanjutan, keberpihakan pada kondisi masyarakat di dalamnya, serta lebih berkeadilan gender.

This thesis aims to reveal the various forms of the act of dwelling from settling and living activities that are embodied in the daily lives of coastal settlement communities in the Gudang Auction area, which show mechanisms for responding to vulnerabilities and efforts to maintain the security of their settlements. The ecofeminism perspective is used to be able to see this mechanism more holistically, in which social, economic, political, and ecological issues become a unified whole, including in examining class, gender, and power relations that occur in the fluctuating lives of coastal communities. The results of the study aim to encourage a development paradigm, especially towards planning in coastal spaces and informal settlements with a more open perspective to achieve sustainability, alignment with the conditions of the people in it, and more gender equity."

"As anthropologists become more and more accustomed to counting things and giving numerical statements concerning frequencies of behaviors, traits, andevents, as well as computing expressions of the covariations among these cultural elements, the tasks of recording, storing, and analyzing these data become moreand more complicated. Moreover, because we tend to be holistic in general orientation, we prefer to manipulate rather large numbers of different variables simultaneously. That is, none of us is particularly happy with the examination of individual cultural items, or pairs of items, torn out of the context of broad behavioral patterns to which they are related. Anthropological analysis usually involvesa multivariable strategy. Beyond a certain point the tasks of storing and manipulating these data becomeso enormous that we lose track of our materials, or our inventory and management of the data become overly cumbersome and time consuming. At some point in the growing complexity and perplexity we can save time and energy by turning to electronic computers for assistance."
